Like most common sense people who aren’t stuck in the 70’s-80’s in terms of lineup construction? Your best overall hitters, with the best track records, and the best plate discipline (or OBP), should get the most AB’s… always.
I'm going to be in Houston on Sunday for a training course next week.. I saw some pretty good deals for some seats to that game.... then I saw it is brown pitching.
Bregman should be in the bottom 3rd. Don't like it, stop ****ing sucking. I do find it hilarious that in his contract year, he's likely gonna have the worst season of his career, which is following 3 straight years of production decline. Very likely that any team that signs him is going to regret that contract almost immediately. Should have traded him in the off-season, maybe could have flipped him for Westburg and a pitching prospect. After wasting so many ABs with Abreu in key RBI situations, it seems stupid to keep doing it with another guy that is in serious decline.
So I am just putting it out there. Scott Servais is the reason the Astros traded away Kenny Lofton. He was the Astros top catching prospect in 1991 and was brought up for an audition. He proceeded to hit for an OPS+ of 42 in 16 games. That winter the Astros decided they needed a starting catcher in order to move Biggio to 2B and they didn't have one so traded Lofton to Cleveland for Eddie Taubensee. If he had played well maybe they decide they don't need to trade for a catcher. Servais pays for that this weekend !!
Maybe Yordan batting 2nd is a thing this year: 2nd: .277/.359/.468 3rd: .138/.156/.345 (only this high because of the Mexico City Series). I think (hope) he finds his stroke a day snaps out of it this weekend and carries a hot bat into Yankee Stadium.
30 is your prime so you really have to wonder and possibly point to his constant tinkering with his stance, swing etc. every offseason. All of the soft tissue lower leg issues didnt help either and maybe he's still compensating, who knows.....I'm not a hitting coach but his swing through to the ball "looks" to be very flat. I do play golf and it appears he neither hits up or down on the ball. A flat surface hitting a round ball is fine but when both objects are round I can see the pops ups.....
