perhaps, just perhaps, if these protesters didn't protest (in the manner they have), more focus would be on the human misery and destruction of the actual conflict than on the protesters

yeah, I'm pretty sure that would be the case

Strongly doubt anything critical of Israel will be tolerated on college campuses for long.

Anti-Semites have taken up the Palestinian cause because they hate Jews, not because they care about Palestinians.
Islamaphobes have taken up the Israeli cause because they hate Muslims, not because they care about Jews.

But I am here trying to not conflate Jewish people with Israel as the acts of Israel are not the acts of Jewish people. I understand why religious Jews in the US have an affinity with Israel. There is an industry to make secular Jews bonded to Israel with free “birthright” trips. But at the same time, even if you accept all Jews worldwide are indigenous to Israel at face value, you can be critical of a country (e.g. China, Iran, India) without being prejudiced against the people who makeup those nations. Even if the people living in those countries vehemently support their governments (China and India).

It's interesting to observe the leftists tending to side with these "protesters" when anyone with common sense can see that they are absolute miscreants.

Many attention grabbing protests end up overshadowing what is being protested. For example last year when protesters glued themselves to the floor of Target Center during a Twolves playoff game. Very few people even in Minnesota know what they were protesting for (they were protesting owner Glen Taylor's stake in a chicken farm) and their protests had very little to do with the Twolves or the NBA. Most people were annoyed or amused by their protest than they were informed educated or outraged about the issue they were protesting.

The pro Hamas encampment has there own "quasi police force" that determines who is allowed to walk in or out - it's an interesting dynamic that they supposedly hate facism yet in this very short clip, we see 3 examples or characteristics of actual facist conduct:
    • "Disdain for the importance of human rights" (they already have set boundaries on free movement - what should be a human right of way in a public area is treated as a private zone instead even to students that have every right to not be impeded)
    • "Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause" (obviously they determined he is not one of them and as such his right to be at the university is overridden by the fact the encampment is ultimately not welcoming to anyone that isn't completely bought in and in absolute agreement)
    • "A controlled mass media" (again sentries or "lookouts" were quick to point out his filming - at this point, they realize the encampment is having negative repercussions towards the public at large- The more control they can have over video- The less that can be used against the encampment)

Today I learned @AroundTheWorld 's grandfather killed 2172 Jews by slitting their throats and sexually defiling their corpses.

See how easy it is to make **** up and not have any backing data?

This is clearly absurd. There's obviously an even more dangerous amount of antisemitism going around than usual, but we can't start restricting speech criticizing a government's actions.

Calling for Intifada = violent hate speech

"From the river to the sea" = violent hate speech

Restricting excess of and falsely imprisoning
Jews on college campuses = Wtf is wrong with y'all, definitely straight up violent hate crime

Although I vehemently support Israel's right to exist, right to self determine, and mission to end Hamas militarily and recover her hostages, I say unequivocally that criticizing Israel's actions and even debating over whether she should exist at all have to remain protected speech in America - as they are in Israel.

There sure does seem to be a lot of this going on. Great point.
Another great point. I personally have ties to America and Israel, which is why I have the responsibility to be critical of both. I don't want to be associated with Netenyahu any more than we want to be associated with Drumpf, nor those badass Iranian chicks with the Ayatollah.

****, the encouragement of critical thought was probably the main pillar of my experience growing up Jewish.

Edited to exclude "violent" from preceeding "hate speech".

Just curious if you have a link to the actual list? I'd be interested in checking that out, thanks.
