Eh... at this point I don't think we'll draft a DT.... if it was a priority for them they would have done it already. If they do draft a DT, he won't be a starter right away. Honestly, we're contenders no matter what we did in this draft. We're stacked on O and the defense got better in during free agency. I like drafting two guys who appear to be sticky in coverage.
Hell, I don’t know this from that except to say that my panties are mostly certainly not in a bunch. In fact, I buck naked. Peace out.
I don't know anything about any of these players but what I did know was that 3 of the biggest weaknesses texans have are the line, safety and db's. I am glad they are addressing the needs and hope they get it right. I think interior defensive line is still left
I agree. I wanted those positions picked too. We need depth at the injury riddled OLine, and our secondary can use all the help it can to get better. Hopefully we can get some good defensive linemen too and another WR and RB.
Re: Payton wilson One of Wilson’s shoulder operations was poor, no acl in one leg, and no supporting ligaments in the other knee. His body has already begun to self destruct and he’s had double digits surgeries
I am very happy with the players drafted on Day 2 and believe Lassiter and Bullock could be starters next season. Fisher won't start right away but he'll become part of the rotation during the season and be a solid starter long term. However, DT was the most important issue to address in the draft and I'm concerned.
Players I like: RB: Wright, Guerendo, Irving WR: Baker, Washington TE: Sanders, Stover, Johnson IOL: Mahogany, Pran-Granger, Bortolini, Nourzad DT: Dorlus, Boyd DE: Booker LB: Gray, Ulofoshio
Flashy picks typically aren't the best unless they're at the too of the draft. Lassiter reminds me of Dunta Robinson. I like Bullock too. Fisher not sure but I trust Demeco and NC
You are really carrying the "this was a terrible draft" torch but how about just waiting until the season? Meco and Nick have earned our trust for now. I'll let them do their thing
I think we're all a little spoiled after last year's draft and this offseason. We expected something big and splashy today, but we just got solid football players drafted mostly at value of where they were expected to be taken. I think maybe my biggest surprise is still the lack of a DT, but if we put that aside and assume they have other plans for the position, I do think they added guys at three key areas of need. Bullock was the one on my radar after hearing Matt Miller rave about his ball hawking skills. Getting a FS was second on my wish list of needs. For Day 3, still hoping for a DT to at least compete for a rotational spot and a RB behind Mixon.
In retrospect, was it smart to trade our #1 pick? Well, Caserio will look brilliant if Lassiter plays very well and Stephon Diggs has a big year. Otherwise, he's going to be second-guessed. For instance, we could have stayed put and gotten Terrion Arnold, a player that I don't believe anybody expected to be around at 23.
Unfortunately, it appears that taking Jalen Pitre at #37 was a terrible pick and so we're trying to rectify that miss by again picking a safety instead of another position. I like Caserio but I think his "miss" rate is too high.
Meh. The difference between 78 and 86 is 40 points. 123 is worth 9 points. A little bit too much, but not “entirely” too much. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp
We probably took Blake Fisher to cover off the mistake of taking Kenyon Green in Round 1 two years ago. And now we select a Day 2 safety to cover off the Pitre mistake. So yes, there have been costly misses. But the overall body of work is good -- not flawless -- but good.
Will it matter if the rest of the team he put together balls out? This draft not going to your preference doesn’t change the fact that Nick has had an AMAZING offseason. He put together a team with only a few holes and has addressed those holes(minus DT depth). Lassiter’s play and whether we should’ve traded or not doesn’t change the FA period and how great it was. Lest we forget how everyone saw the trade up last year and how that ultimately turned out. Very few of these guys would be expected to come in and contribute from day 1, if they do that’s just icing on the cake. Reminder, we are trying to win the Super Bowl like now.
