Sure, but in a draft where dozens of players of need fell from their rankings we walked away with two players we reached a bit for and in spite of reports we tried to move up we had many teams jump us for players that fell that played positions we needed
Nick said he wasn’t in love with this draft. Also, we kind of had an amazing FA period. This draft is for depth, no one he missed out on is going to be a HOF like some of the reaction has been
From Lance's Fisher evaluation: “Fisher is the more naturally talented of the Notre Dame tackles, but (Joe) Alt is much more consistent and technically sound.” - AFC personnel executive
I’ve watch all of Fisher’s college games. He was the vocal guy during recruiting in 2020 to keep his class together. He’s a good teammate, but he needed another year in college and commits too many penalties. My main fear for him is our window is now open and he’s the definition of a project. If they push him in there too early, I’m afraid he’ll not live up to it. He felt much more like a 3rd round pick as I’m not sure a gamble this high makes sense at this point.
Yeah but there was a huge run on OTs in the 1st. He wouldn't have been there at 86. Maybe Nick wanted to trade back. Maybe he had Intel that if he wanted the guy he needed to draft him then. LB and S are deeper than OT this draft. So maybe you lose out on your 5th ranked S or LB and have to draft the 6th or 7th ranked one. You got an OT that is much much better than what you could have gotten at 86
Pretty crazy how our season is already over before it’s even started because of this pick. We need to hire Mel Kiper to run our draft. He could save us.
