I admittedly don't like Baker. I think he's a bad management and is all about himself. That said,, I agree it probably wouldn't matter. This team is going through the motions
It is a circus. I hate to mail it in early but we might have to just accept we're not good. I don't know what you get but obviously Bregman should be first to go.
Yes Dusty did. He's terrible. No Espada is doing nothing with the roster and he deserves the criticism that comes with it. That's not to say Dusty isn't a bad manager
Unless we go full rebuild, its going to go very slowly. And if we continue to trade away our top minor leaguers, it may not happen at all. Guys like Alvarez, Pena, Tucker and Altuve have some value along with a few other guys, but its hard to imagine this FO parting with them. If our record continues to plummet, we will get some high picks. So there is that.
I totally disagree with this. Tucker and Valdez could get 80% of the way to rebuilding the farm by themselves, provided the GM is good at his job. Ed Wade traded Oswalt, Pence, Bourn, and Berkman and didn’t much of anything; Jeff Luhnow got Yordan Alvarez and Josh Hader for Josh Fields and Bud Norris. Valdez and Tucker would be the 2 best trade chips on the market if Houston were to shop them.
I didn't mean we had to trade all of them. But I also disagree with you that just those two guys would rebuild 80% of the farm. But its a moot point because Crane isnt trading Valdez or Tucker, much less both of them, unless we are 15+ games behind in the division by the all-star break.
I'll disagree respectfully. We should have won at least one more. I get how difficult it is to win in baseball though
I think it’s hard to predict what Crane’s threshold will be for pulling the plug on 2024 (and 2025). He has shown that he doesn’t typically deal in half-measures, and he’s shown the willingness to go full bore toward a goal more than a year away. But he also clearly believed in the current roster’s ability to win now. If Tucker and Valdez are both playing well, they’d each bring back 2 premier prospects. 4 of the top 100 prospects in the league would give Houston an above average farm system, judging from the highest level of talent. And I don’t think anyone is arguing that Houston’s 2nd/3rd/4th tiers of farm talent are below average.
