I came into this road trip thinking it had to go well, or at least competitive, for Espada to keep his job. Best case scenario we go 3-5, I think he's toast.
I hate to acknowledge the last WS, or even mention the assholes in North Texas in general, but the Rangers had both a top-5 draft pick and a WS title last year, so there's hope for 2025.
been almost ten years since the Astros weren't good enough to pay attention to or watch that time has come again
106 wins and a trashcan-less championship without two of them. Likely championship without 3 of them, sans manager-catcher romance
Locked on Astros I don't think they see a bigger picture. Alex Bregman in a Free Agent Year. Pressure is really on Alex Bregman. Bregman is showing signs since he has moved to 2nd in the Lineup. Many Astros either Have a Huge Contract to Perform. Altuve, Yordan, Javier, McCullers, Verlander, Rafael Montero, Jose Abreu. Or in a Free Agent Year Alex Bregman, Framber Valdez, Kyle Tucker, Ryan Pressly, Jose Urquidy.
I don't know about that. Crane comes off as stubborn and too proud. and I honestly think the problem runs deeper than Espada. Whose going to be the scapegoat once he's canned? The next manager? Doubt it. Crane won't let the heat get near him. Espada is his meat shield now. Yeah I know he owns the team and doesn't really answer to anyone so might not care but he seems to have a huge ego.
Maybe Crane has been getting advice from Drayton, Tilman, and Jerreh Jones on how to get rid of a highly competent/successful GM and start meddling in the on-field product?
It goes deeper than Espada. The entire coaching staff needs to be fired. Our hitting and pitching is ****ing abysmal. We have 2 coaches for both pitching and hitting and we are 2nd worst in earned runs allowed and 10th worst in runs scored.
