Yep. They are only going to rule this way because they know that Biden would never break laws. If a Democrat was a threat to Democracy all of these a$$clowns would be arguing the exact opposite. Today could very well be a date we point to and see that this is where Democracy tipped on its head because there were bought off hacks allowed to serve at the highest court.
What's crazy to me is the utter disdain that Alito has for our Judicial process. He's literally mocking the process of a prosecutor going to a grand jury, indicting someone, getting the case in front of a judge, having that judge run a trial with a jury, and living with the results of that trial. It's just insane how a Supreme Court Justice is downplaying and outright mocking that process.
Perhaps the questions should have been posed... can a sitting president order the military to assassinate members of the supreme court?
Playing their stupid game actually makes this an easy one to answer: no. They'd likely view that as a violation of the separation of powers. Remember: these are unelected, unaccountable lifelong god-kings who value nothing more than the preservation of their own power.
I guess if they rule in trumps favor then Biden can just have his ass thrown in jail for no reason, banish his kids to Russia (along with mtg), deport his wife, take over his properties and then when the results come in Nov he can simply say No I am staying.
here maga justice is obviously setting up for the trump protection ruling... but even accepting his premise that "most people" think it was the right decision, it really doesn't fit this case, since Ford pardoned a former president that was not running again. Imagine how different it would have been if nixon announced he would run again after getting the pardon. Of course, the American people (including republicans at the time) were not supporting a corrupt former president.
Funny how the maga supreme court justices are asking these hypotheticals to justify ruling for trump. In doing so, he ignores that the indictments weren't filed by "a bitter opponent, that the charges came from grand juries, and they were for criminal acts by trump before trump was a declared candidate and before his "Bitter Opponent" had even considered running. But sure justice alito, regurgitate trump talking points in your line of questioning...
“Bottom line: This will become a historic win for President Trump—and the presidency and our country. This is a big step toward undoing the Democrats’ republic-ending lawfare and election interference against President Trump."
He was asking: couldn't Ford be prosecuted for pardoning Nixon (for obstructing justice)? My immediate novice thought is no, that's within the clear power of the Presidency. And the lawyer's answer is: it falls under presidential responsibility that Congress cannot regulate.
This sounds a-ok to y’all? Trump lawyer: POTUS orders a military coup is an official act and thus immune from prosecution (unless Congress act).
Nothing is okay with what we're seeing. We're literally on the brink of facism and Americans are still doing this "both sides are bad" bogus. The country is ****ed
