Fritz, so far, is like a breath of fresh air compared to Dana H. UH has had some really "dumpster" coaches, but Dana may be the worst.
I am not going crazy about all the guys hitting the portal its normal for players to leave when there is a coaching change and it just opens up spots for guys that want to be here.
Levine was an extremely nice guy and well-liked, but he presided over the two most embarrassing losses in program history. 2012 vs TX State (infamous loss given that it was TX State's first game in FBS *AND* we fired our OC in week 1) and 2014 vs UTSA (TDECU stadium opener). I think given that he basically exited football entirely after UH tells us all we need to know about who was truly the most in-over-their-head. Even 0-11 Dana Dimel is still in the coaching game. Holgo is basically the least smelly turd in the toilet. Gun to my head I take him over Helton, Levine, Dimel, and Applewhite. But at the end of the day he's still a turd though. Edit: Actually nevermind. If I had to run it back I'd take Applewhite. His teams were bland as hell but at least he has a chance to evolve into something better.
Yeah that year things started to look like they might turn around. We didn't beat anyone good (our signature win was a 10-4 Rice team) but we lost a bunch of one-possession games to some very good teams. 2014, despite its disastrous start, had a chance of being a good year until we lost vs. a terrible Tulane team on homecoming. By the end of that year Tony had racked up too many unforced errors to be given more rope.
Is this coming from Fertitta, do his lawyers just not have anything to do or is this some kind of copyright case study for his other businesses? is there no greater sign of your own program's deep tradition and proud achievements than to ape a dead pro football team using the polar opposite of your school's official colors?
