Elon threatened hikes last month to boost inventory sales and now this. Is there an Elon cult watch, or is stock price the ultimate indicator?

States should pass a law to display the insurance premium increases.

Average Uber driver makes ~30000 a year. If a business runs a robotaxi, they stand to make 100k over the lifetime of the vehicle.

The math is fuzzy. The cost to run and maintain a robotaxi is very low compared to other ICE fleet vehicles. However its an untested business model the profits are likely to run much lower as 'competition is coming'.

But hey, whats the point of discussion if we throw in a no context comment into the mix. Because you know, I have no clue of price structure related between resale, retail, commercial, industrial and government/military.

How much should someone pay for FSD?
    100k?
    15k?
    99 a month?

Don’t think it’s a discussion of profits from robotaxi. We are talking about FSD feature.

@Sajan lol, Atlas guys are free and back at it! I've still been on hiatus other than regular investments, haven't been playing daytrade options.

Have you retired yet and have a warehouse full of Porsche models?

Perhaps I am too literal of a person. To me it seems obvious he is talking about a value add that could exceed 100k, not that anyone is going to pay that. The only way there can be a 100k value is for commercial or industrial use. 'Value add' is one of the worst idioms in industry.

If FSD is fully autonomous , I could see myself paying $150 a month for the service. I put maybe 15k miles a year. If I had an hour commute each day, it would easily be worth it. Supervised driving is a complete waste of life most of the time.

Oh man nice, 996 Turbo!! That's awesome! Yes definitely agree large caps/growth. Penny stocks were fun but sadly a lot of people got stuck.

Yeah, those guys... Just crazy, haha, never expected that.

What is the ideal rate? I thought it was set to balance economic growth with inflation.

to be honest, is it even that high?
or did we get so used to such low rates, we jacked up prices..

people want rates to go back down so they can spend 500K on a 3bed house in suburbia..

99% overnight. Turn borrowing off completely. Nerf private equity. And stop giving away money.

Smartest person was Bill Gates who said everyone should just sit at home for 2 weeks. Had we done that we'd be fine. Instead yall let the FED play pee pee games. Now our money is worthless and it all goes to Israel anyways.

    GOOD LUCK.

On the earnings call Musk mentioned Tesla will own a fleet of these cars....

Anywho I picked up some more shares on the 19th and today once ER was released. I am thinking a bounce is coming for two reasons:

The markets are irrational. Just yesterday, market was predicting a 10% drop after earnings call. ffwd today, price is up and AH trading is through the roof. Zero reveal. ZERO. The biggest difference between this call and last call is Musk didn't sound like Eeyore.

People are acting like Optimus will be available late 25/mid 2026. Comical. The regulatory approval for commercial and private use is years, not months ahead. The government is not going to let something that looks like the T-800 be sold all over the world without some reassurance it can't be hacked and go on a killing spree.

Tesla is going head to head with Uber? We already knew that. This question is will Tesla let competitors buy robotaxis/cyber cab. What is the business model? Tesla hasn't a clue at this point and considering they were just charging 16k at one point for FSD should tell you well enough what they will do.

Why was the sub 25k compact car placed on the back burner? Well, it may turn out they can't build it that cheap. It seems battery production is lower than anticipated, thus battery packs costing much more than they hoped. With no significant competition, why thread that needle at this time. Tesla can raise the price of the CT (by offering 'founders series for 20k+ more) to kill demand but that wont work with the sub compact 25k car. Instead, build a stripped down Cyber Cab and sell it for 50k including FSD and allow it access to the network. Oh by the way, this is likely another 3-5 years off too, because ya know, regulatory approval. People are going to be buying up these robottaxi's thinking they are going to make bank but only to find out their jurisdiction will not be allowing it for quite some time. FSD and Robotaxi bagholders.

Tesla insurance? Turns out not such a great deal for many people. Seems Tesla has little interest going out on the risk curve at this time. Nothing like getting a real time infraction because the jack ass in front of you suddenly turned and you didnt slam on your brakes to avoid an almost 0% chance of collision.

Its fascinating how sentiment changes in an instant.

I listened to the entire call and a lot of things were vague. They didn't answer any of the specifics asked by the analysts.

I think the pump is coming from the vague statement about the new lower cost model that's being pushed into production earlier than planned (and not canceled? like reuters said).

But overall, numbers wise, it was a terrible quarter and probably was priced in.

TSLA last reported earnings on Apr 23, 2024 AMC.
The options prices predicted a ±9.3% post earnings move, compared to a +13.3% actual move.
