Israel was founded in 1948. Most countries became sovereign after.

The wars fought between Israel and its Arab neighbors were ethnically driven to their core and its root were tensions between Zionist and Palestinian nationalists.
The Arab League tried to prevent Israel's formation in 48, and it failed.
A million Palestinians were expelled from what became Israel and a million Jews were expelled from the surrounding Arab states.
In 56, the Israelis with Egypt and France invaded Sinai to force Egypt to reopen its Suez canal.
The 67 War was Pan-Arabist nations fighting against Israel to avenge their humiliating loses, and they again failed.
The 73 War was again Pan-Arabist nations trying to avenge their losses. This war ended after a UN backed peace and was an Israeli victory and led to the peace process starting. That was 50 years ago.

Since then Israel has off and on invaded and occupied Lebanon and Gaza/Palestine and the US position has been a two state solution.

The two state solution is almost certainly dead.

Supporting Israel is not the same as giving them whatever military aid they ask for.

Do you give a child or friend that you support anything they ask for, no conditions?

I think we should support Israel. I also think enabling actions that will make them (and us) a bigger target in the region is not supporting them. Enabling policies that make any possibility of lasting peace with Arab neighbors even more remote is also not supporting them.

Exactly. By the Turks, Iranians, Arabs, and even the Russians. Those groups are more less distrustful of one another but they all support Hamas in Palestine.

So if the IDF cannot defeat Hamas and it cannot rescue the hostages, what is the IDF actually doing 6 months into this conflict?

No, by Biden and the idiots in the EU.

Israel could easily crush Hamas forever, but the leftists in the West want to keep Hamas around.

Israel doesn’t have to listen to the EU or Biden.

    Israel is not a child.

I appreciate that you are a rational, level-headed person.

But what you fail to understand is that the Islamists are not like you. They do not want peace. It doesn't matter what concessions you make.

The only way towards a lasting peace is to crush them and defeat them militarily like the Nazis were defeated.

Only after that can a real peace process begin.

Everything else just prolongs and worsens the conflict.

    Correct.

And it should never have listened to them. German foreign minister Baerbock (herself a descendant of a Nazi, in contrast to me) went to Israel and thought she could lecture Netanyahu about what to do, which is beyond laughable.

Israel should have gone into Ranallah and shoold have ended Hamas and liberated Gaza a long time go.

What were your German-side great-grandparents? I wouldn’t hold it against you if they were Nazis but there not a lot of alternatives in Germany at that time besides Jewish Germans and socialists.

My grandfather was an English teacher in a Christian school. He somehow got around military service as a teacher. He wasn't a member of the Nazi party, but as far as I know also not a member of any resistance group. Just a regular guy trying to keep his family alive. He listened to the BBC to know what was really going on. That was punishable by death. The Nazis had a system where they had neighborhood spies who would ask my father and his siblings (born 1934 and 1938) what their father was listening to on the radio. They were briefed not to say the wrong thing.

They lived in Bonn, which was bombed into the ground by the allied forces. My father was born in 1936 and grew up having to seek shelter in bunkers during the bombardment. At a later stage of the war, the family relocated to my great uncle's farm on the countryside, which was more safe from bombardment than the cities. They prayed that the Brits or Americans would make it there before the Russians, because people knew the Russians would rape and murder.

P.S.: My great-grandfather was a doctor, the other one was an entrepreneur. They would have been too old to be in the military in WW II. As far as I know, neither of them was a member of the Nazi party.

One of my great great great grandfathers was a member of the Prussian parliament in 1848. Even though he was an entrepreneur, he was "on the left", demanding to abolish the aristocracy and an opponent of Bismarck.

You're such a dipshit. You zionists always blame everyone else but yourself. It's somehow bidens fault that the IDF is a incompetent military. Blame everyone but yourself.

Biden approved every single weapons sale for 8 months straight and you dipshits blame usa and not your incompetent military.
Thats all the IDF is good at. It's always a innocent victim who deserves all the pity in the world according to the pro Israeli side. Any failure by the IDF is bcz of the usa and EU.

Theres no self reflection for these folks. The IDF is the most incompetent military force in developed world.
