I’m sorry, that’s not true. Slabs and Houston rap isn’t even prominent in mainstream hip hop culture alone. As much as you can’t stand it, the Rodeo is more popular than Houston’s slab culture. I don’t hate anything urban, I grew up when slab and Houston rap was at its peak. But that was 25 years ago. Mexican OT is blowing up a little now but not mainstream.
They aren’t showing slabs and sunnyside either. No one outside of a small section of Houston even knows about any of it
Also funny how he says Houston is known for the rodeo when it just drew its second biggest crowd due to rappers and Slabs
Lol, it’s always the same types of people that want to hang onto poor mentalities. Slabs and Houston rap is not even remotely a thing anywhere outside of Houston. Travel somewhere, ask them about Houston. The same things get shown on broadcasts, Discovery green, skylines, BBQ, horses. Not slabs and grills
There aren’t any rappers in Houston in general anymore. I know where rappers used to be, Sunnyside is the shithole they’re pandering to. I grew up on the North East side near 5th Ward when Houston rap was big. That was a long time ago
You “urban” only fans have no idea what they people think outside of the tiny areas. Its the same reason the overwhelming consensus is that H on the helmet sucks
BBQ, cowboy yeehaw ****, and livestock get mentioned on TV. Slabs and grills get mentioned pretty much everywhere else... they're not on TV for pretty obvious reasons you can figure out on your own. Like it or not, it's a sub-culture that is unique to Houston and a significant portion of the fanbase identifies with.
If that was true you would know the places you see people ride horses the most is around Acres Homes.
I’m guessing that’s why Garth Brooks and George Straight had a say in the Texans uniforms and not Bun B, Paul Wall and Slim Thug lol
I agree with this. It’s a subculture in Houston, but it’s not a significant portion of the fan base. It’s a section but not a big section.
That’s not a good thing. Those unis have been **** on. We get it, you like grills, slabs, drank and whatever is in your small subculture. That’s fine, you got the trashiest looking uni in the league
Kid, I grew up all around there. I know Houston better than you. Just because people don’t recognize the down trodden areas, nationally, you feel disrespected. The nicer parts of Houston don’t want anything to do with culture either
