I don't think this relates to WW3, but it is a palate cleanser for all the doom and gloom. Funny how a historian like Kotkin can deliver a forward looking vision that most Americans can aspire to.
Iranian media are saying the attack was with drones, not missiles, and they were shot down. I don't believe either side's reporting on this. Simultaneously hyping and playing down every bomb flung at their advisory. Maybe the offramp is that if this was a retaliation it was no worse than the last drone attack on Iran.
Escalating over this crap is so ridiculous. Israel has for decades had a philosophy of striking back so hard that other would-be aggressors will think twice about making attacks. It has been successful for them. This idea of not escalating is a departure from that. But I believe escalating with all the allies having to step up on both sides is a huge mistake.
It’s like a couple old men bragging about how they pound their 25 year old girlfriends until smoke comes from between their legs. No one believes their **** - they don’t have 25 year old girlfriends and their idea of pounding is pounding a couple Coors Lights and falling asleep on their sofas.
Lol, for an old lonely fart you sure do post like a child. Supporting genocide and supporting war like its a sport. What a loser.
Reports are that Iran isn’t going to retaliate and are playing the affair down. Good news for the markets I guess. But also it was feels like this wasn’t actually an Israeli response either.
I get the feeling this is largely being driven by the leadership of both countries for a domestic message. Both the Mullahs and Netanyahu are facing major domestic opposition and looking tough to traditional adversaries bolsters their support. Neither country or the World needs this now. Israel is still fighting in Gaza, on their Northern borders, and with domestic problems. Iran has deep economic problems, domestic unrest and ongoing quarrels with several other countries.
