Raptors Jontay Porter BANNED FOR LIFE FROM NBA for gambling violations

Discussion in 'NBA Dish' started by Mr. Dominant, Apr 17, 2024.

?

Should he have been given a second chance and not banned for life?

  1. Yes, NBA should instead have suspended him for # of games. A lifetime ban was not necessary.

    23.7%
  2. No, he deserves to be banned from the NBA.

Yes it protects the league. Everybody keeps saying the NBA is rigged but that's mostly aimed at the organization or refs. If fans start thinking players are corrupt then the league is cooked. If they don't come hard on this there's gonna be suspicions on players giving away games.

As for sports betting, it's better to make it legal and make money off it like the league has done than make it illegal cuz you can't stop people from gambling. By increasing league profit and thus increasing player salaries you already deter players from gambling cuz they might lose their right to play in the NBA.

This dude is just dumb AF he made 2.2M in career earnings as a bench scrub in just a couple of years but risked it all to make 20k USD. Lol wtf. Literally one of the stupidest player in the league he deserves to be banned for life.

This whole draft rigging is some of the dumbest **** I've read you realize every team has an owner and the NBA is owned by all these owners right? Like the smaller teams would be ok losing out on the future superstars so they can prop the big teams? You don't think teams like the Wizards and Pistons who had the best odds would be concerned and ensure the process was fair so they get their reward for tanking?

If the NBA is rigging the lottery why did Zion end in New Orleans instead of New York? Why did Tim Duncan and Wemby end in San Antonio? Why did LeBron end in Cleveland? When's the last time New York had a superstar in the draft? They been to the lottery multiple times their last lotto pick were Obi Toppin and RJ Barrett in a 2 man draft. Oh yeah, gotta give New Orleans and Memphis their superstars cuz you know these teams gonna bring in the dough.

NBA just hates their most lucrative franchise or what?

Well, let's see how many more players they can dig up and then start to lessen the penalty because they discover it's an epidemic. I wouldn't be surprised to hear coaches doing this stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Udoka did made a few "bad" calls to throw a game and cash in. He has a bit of a shady look about him at times.

LeBron is easy. He was the "hometown" kid and the "chosen one". That one was a given. He was going nowhere else. The NBA has continually tried to prop up the Pelicans since they had to own the team temporarily. They got AD but too injured and didn't bring success. Now Zion who is essentially going through the same thing. Once developed, Zion may very well end up in NYC like AD finally went to LA. And the Spurs are just a small market outlier who has always had great players dating back to Gervin.

But the lottery is very likely rigged, even if not every year. We had everyone calling out the Spurs getting the #1 pick to draft Wemby all last season and the reasons were due to the Tony Parker-France connection, Pop, and Spurs history with international players. What the NBA could also be looking at there is to get young stars in smaller markets to help with tickets/merchandise sales meanwhile knowing teams in large markets like the Knicks already have super huge fanbases and don't need as much help

at the end of the day, it's all about bucks. and going back 5 decades even the average fakers fan in LA openly shamelessly spouts this to no end. they all know that huge market affords them any player they desire. from shaq to kobe to pau to leroids to AD, for whom the zion to pels lottery was absolutely rigged. now this season, fakers getting obscene FT attempts when they were needed, shattering 8 decades of team FT records since the league's inception. silver is a baldface WH0RE unlike sports has ever seen before and belongs in a prison cage

this is a league as corrupt as ukraine, and some no-name scrub at the end of the bench gets singled out to protect the house. for every $20k porter trying to pull, $ilver the b!tch himself is bagging extra zeros on that

Porter was both an idiot and someone with an obvious addiction. A lifetime ban might be too much but a heavy penalty was warranted but maybe a conditional return. Possibly give him a few years to get help and reconsider.

There has to be . . . I'm talking his wife locked in the basement type thing

I would not. He deserves it.
No way in hell he comes back from this
I mean he cannot even play international ball in my opinion.

New York is gonna sell out no matter what
Memphis and San Antonio won't . .. not without a competitive team

I get this, and I know it comes in part at least because you're a kind and forgiving person. But this penalty isn't about him...it's about what needs to be protected, and that's mostly the perception of fans that what they're watching is actually a competitive event and not a rigged event.
