There is no group of people on Earth that need a Come to Jesus talk than billionaires. Making a lot of money does not mean you are an expert of anything, even making money. Imagine if somebody took over Crane's logistics company and decided to uproot the systems and personnel that made that company successful. We would say that would be foolish. The hubris of Jim Crane deciding to weed out the systems and process developed by Luhnow and Click in favor of his own gut and the advice of his golfing buddies is how we got here.
Hunter brown and France did their Job. Monterro has been solid. You gotta think Abreu, Pressley, Hader will turn it around. bench Jose Abreu, his D is terrible
I remember the days when I’d get annoyed at Dusty for resting players instead of going full throttle for the sweep. Now, we’re in the dust pan for the third series of the season. Swept in half of the series played. This is depressing…
So this team finds ways to lose across the lineup. Sometimes it’s the bullpen including the headliners, sometimes it’s cold bats, sometimes it’s the starting pitching. And it seems like one of these units single-handedly lose almost every single game on the schedule. And next to never do all units perform in the same game. The early season schedule has been tough. That much is true and as of this moment is one of the few wormholes of hope. But our 7-8-9 bullpen has performed Mariana’s Trench below expectations. Starters Valdez, Hunter Brown…..well below what was hoped for. Bergman’s on the milk carton, but overall, the hitting has actually been decent, just not situationally and, yes, that’s a problem. The bright spots: Altuve, Blanco, Javier, Peña (by his standards), Diaz. I don’t know what it is…. complacency and dis-interest in the reg? Stiff competition? A lack of leaders in the clubhouse? Does feel like this team needs a severe kick in the balls right now. Definitely not our standard folks
I doubt anyone thinks Abreu is the only reason, but hitting .330 would probably equal his OPS being 700 points higher. Astros would have 3 more wins easily, and that's not including today's wack ass defense. Astros are now 0-5 in one-run games. Other than that, there's been an unfathomable amount of bad luck and bad circumstances. The roughest part of the season should be over. JV returns next game, schedule lightens up, Astros get some off days, and other guys will get healthier. Astros have an awesome team outside of Abreu. He needs a permanent DNP. Even Singleton is an upgrade. Crane needs to bite the bullet and make the move. We're only 4.5 behind in the division. 90+ wins and the playoffs are still easily possible, and once we're there, we're likely the favorites.
Golfing buddies!! That just hit me really hard. I loved this team so much last 9 years but that comment about golfing buddies is so painful to read but100% accurate.
They are suppose to the tough part of the schedule to everyone else... and being swept multiple times is inexcusable
Dana has lied way more than he has told the truth And he hasn’t put together a very good roster Stars and Scrubs
20 games is too soon especially with the pitching injuries But if things are not better after this 8 game trip Buh bye
I wonder if the Rockies are willing to eat some money and take on Abreu's contract for Kris Bryant who has an even worse contract.
With JV back Arrighetti should be brought back and put in the pen. He is better than some of what we got there now, and right now we need the best we can put out there
I totally agree, Or just move Espada back to bench coach or whatever. We need someone to light a fire under this team, ruffle feathers, bench Abreu, etc etc. I mean - it's time.
I think Chas misses his banana pudding and that's causing problems. Bench Abreu. Fix those two problems and things will turn around.
