I don’t like this argument. People were hollering for people like Diaz and Chas to play because they were hitting at the time. Of course you want the guys that are hitting on the field and not getting 2-3 days off
They were hollering for them because they thought they were all stars off of a small sample size. And it just goes to show you that there is more to the game than just hitting.
Well I was hollering because it was stupid to put hot hitters on the bench. The numbers for Diaz and Chas last year were all star level. Among catchers w/ 350+ PAs last year Diaz was tied for 2nd in MLB w/ a 127 wRC+ but 21st in PAs Among OF w/ 350+ PAs last year Chas was tied for 10th w/ a 133 wRC+ but was 64th in PAs. And as for your "there is more to the game than just hitting" out of 109 catchers, Diaz was tied for 16th in defensive runs saved while Maldy was 96th. Out of 333 OF Chas was tied for 25th. It's just plain poor managing to leave your best players on the bench too often. How the hell can anyone think any differently? And I have never said Chas was an all-star. Ever. In fact, I have made many posts stating he is an overachiever that is as likely as not to have a short career and regress very early. I may have had a few premature overly enthusiastic posts about Diaz. But the fact is that both were under used last year due to poor managing decisions.
