Their rallied run at the end of the season took too much out of them.......the Rockets succeeded to take them out after all.
Always played well against the Rockets... and to think he could've been on our side if Morey didn't waive him in favour of a non-name rookie in Scott Machado, to preserve the fabled cap flexibility ($2 million savings). Same off-season where he made the same mistake, by choosing Jeremy Lin over Goran Dragic (due to an extra, 4th year). That turned out well too... https://www.thedreamshake.com/2012/10/29/3573082/rockets-trim-roster-to-15-waive-livingston
I never felt like Jeremy Lin was a Morey type move. Seemed to me that Les mandated that move to keep our market in Asia after Yao. It always felt like more of a business decision than a basketball decision.
Drew Magary always a fun read. Click bait that's always worth the 5 minutes for a few chuckles. Break up the Warriors, Including Steph excerpt: "Dynasties never end in dramatic fashion, nor did it this time around. This Dubs loss featured multiple passes to nowhere, balls dribbled off of rogue feet, Klay Thompson missing every single shot he attempted, Sacramento getting 700 offensive rebounds, and Harrison Barnes — Harrison f—king Barnes! — nailing clutch shots for the Kings. These are not the Warriors you’re used to seeing, and that’s because they suck now. Now, I’m prone to overreacting to any significant Warriors win or loss, not unlike the New York Post’s back page after the Yankees lose a homestand in May. But even more learned hoopheads could have told you that this collapse was a long time coming. The Warriors tried to smoothly transition out of the Splash Brothers era by working players like Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman and Jordan Poole (the worst player in the history of mankind) into their core, only for that core to reject them like a bum kidney transplant. And now the core itself is a shambles. Klay is no longer himself, and never will be again. Draymond Green can no longer summon the energy to elbow opponents in the ballsack when his team needs an emotional lift. The bench is neither deep nor quality. And poor Steph Curry is too small, and now too old, to bail them out every time they’re stuck in the mud."
For all the Doom and Gloom, they actually found a viable bench unit and role players but it took them years and their Core 3 aging to 35 years......
and the historic overspending which the nba crippled after teams complained, and notice since adam silver put that rule in place and now the warriors are playing on a level playing field, all the "ball movement" that people thought was the reason the warriors dominated the league has been irrelevant since https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/report-other-teams-complaining-about-warriors-spending
If Warriors drafted Lamelo Ball instead of James Wiseman, it coulda extended their window even with his injuries. Or help them reload better into the next era
What happens next? Who will join the Warriors? Will it be Lebron? Will KD come back for one last dance? Will Giannis come? Will Embiid come? Will Butler come? Will Luka come? Would Harden join CP3 for one last dance and team up with Curry? Would they take a chance on Zion? Does Wemby somehow join Curry? I think the trio of Curry, Klay and Green will stay intact and they all retire as a Warrior. It's just now, who will join them to help their age and talent?
They are done, core is too old. They will make the playoffs at best, but won't advance without major roster changes.
I really don't think anyone will rush to join them this summer either. Heh. Even their last championship, if you look at that weird year, they had a ton of things break their way. It was just a weak year in the league, and key injuries and other-team implosions led to a narrow pathway opening up for them. And sure, they played well, but there are too many teams on the rise now for that fluke to re-occur, and they're also just that many years older now.
