I’ll add a vote for He Got Game. Great directing by Spike Lee, great acting by Denzel. The story is more about the relationship between a father and son with basketball as the background. It was edgy for it’s time with showing some of the shadier aspects of college recruiting and agents.
I get that it’s white af but Hoosiers is 1000% my favorite hoops movie an one of my favorite movies ever
Memby that lil sis Hoopz from Flavor of Love? She wins. https://dasg7xwmldix6.cloudfront.net/episodes/645229_WqVLxY17.jpg
I can't remember if it was good... But Heaven is a Playground at least has Olajuwon in it for a few minutes. I think I'd probably go with some of the other films already mentioned for best, but might be something to watch from early 90s bball /Olajuwon. It had a few other pro players in it too. Reading reviews for first time now, and it's probably why I can't remember much of it.
Hoosiers was the best, but Hustle, Coach Carter, Mighty Macs, Hurricane Season, Glory Road. And an old obscure movie called Inside Moves. Plus these two documentaries: Last Chance U and Rez Ball.
