It is real hard to have a sub .300 SLG and actually play in the majors. I really like Myles Straw, and want him to play, but that is hard to make up for.

I loved Straw but always wanted a better guy in CF.

Meyers has been much better and we constantly complain about him.

Straw has been under 70 wRC+ 2 years in a row, has a 79 career wRC+, and the most optimistic 2024 projection I can find is 83.

Meyers was 88 wRC+ last year when everyone says he can't hit, has an 88 career mark, and his projections are 87-96.

    Myles Straw -
    Current Contract

Myles Straw signed a 5 year / $25,000,000 contract with the Cleveland Guardians, including a $2,000,000 signing bonus, $25,000,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $5,000,000. In 2024, Straw will earn a base salary of $4,500,000, while carrying a total salary of $4,900,000.

    FREE AGENT : 2029 / UFA

All MLB teams would now have a chance to claim Straw. Given the length of his remaining contract, I would guess he would clear waivers and rejoin Cleveland who will still be the hook for the remaining $15 million he is owed, but pay him while he is in Columbus and clear a 40-man spot.

It's funny, when Kemp was in the minors I was convinced he was going to be the 2B of the future for the Astros and that whatever success Altuve had with the major league club was just filling a gap until Kemp was fully ready. Fast forward 10+ years and Altuve is my favorite Astro ever, an almost certain hall of famer and I feel like I would cut anyone that suggested he needed to be replaced for any reason.

    Crazy how things change.

    You from Texas, fan?

Pretty much... just injected with Blue Bell Ice Cream.
They're (Cubs) not good this year.... but the high school baseball museum is here (Brenham) and this city's teams over the years have been the NE Patriots +/- of HS baseball in Texas.
Fireman's Park can be viewed with the same optics as Fenway or Camden Yards. (est. 1883)
PR: Brenham is the Baseball Capital of Texas and is home to Fireman’s Field, one of the nicest high school ballparks in America. Nolan Ryan pitched against the Cubs at Fireman’s Field in 1965 and legend has it that the field was the site of the Texas A&M and University of Texas alumni baseball games.

If you haven't caught a game here, this is the time of year to do so... its on par with Sugarland, if not better (bc history)... beautiful park/area.

Also, even though they have their own field-- Blinn (JuCo) is probably the best team in the country (JuCo-wise)... they're a phenomenally good team.
