Tell that to the judge if you’re ever caught wiring millions of dollars to an illegal bookie. One is criminal, the other is not. There’s nothing minor about that difference in a criminal proceeding.

It's funny how people think doing "legal" betting via Fanduel/Draftkings would have been fine. Of course, you forget that the government wants their cut if you win up front just like in Vegas. Thus, you place bets with that scary "bookie" down the street and report your winnings later ;)

For some reason I don't think Ohtani was gambling illegally for tax purposes.

So two of the recent mega signings by the Dodgers may result in each player being run out of the league lmao

I doubt seriously Ohtani is kicked out. The only way MLB is going to punish their bell cow is if he bet on baseball or gets convicted of a federal crime. My guess is nothing happens to him.

At this point, the different narratives and changing of the story IS the story itself...

Did he have his press conference yet?

MLB won't do anything because the whole country Japan will start boycotting everything American. Most likely Ohtani will bow and say sorry for having bad choices.

He will say "I didn't know it was a problem, sorry." And that will be good enough.

There's nothing minor about legal corruption either.

Of course nothing will happen, but at the very least, we as Astros fans can have some fun at the expense of dodger (and angel) fans. We should take advantage while we still can before this story inevitably get buried.

We stole a few signs during the regular season 7 years ago....but at least our players don't fix games!

It’s too late for it to be buried. If he was was a victim of theft we would hear how.

A bunch of nothing. Ohtani will not get any sort of punishment. Manfred has already stuck his head in the ground and only the call of an Astros' accusation will he perk his head back out.
