We definitely are one of the winners. I’ve always thought the hallmark of ignorant fan is if they freak out over not signing a bunch of high price free agents.
I would understand that…if it was the END of the offseason. The ‘offseason’ technically hasn’t started yet. It’s not even remotely close to being done.
The increase in cap space was a wash since all these free agents cost $4 million more than usual. No one has been cheap including the training camp fodder. Good deal for Queen.
Would not mind spreading some cheap money around on: D'Onta Foreman Zack Cunningham Clyde Edwards-Hellaire Bobby Wagner Derek Barnett Wagner probably the only significant money but over fewer years... could plug up some issues in the middle for experience to replace Perryman... Wouldn't go more than 2 years, 18 million probably... 15 guaranteed? No idea if he would take it though.... he made about 7 last year and had 183 tackles combined to lead the nfl.
I can't wait for Damien Woody to explode on ESPN about the Vikings choosing Sam Darnold over Justin Fields.
Baltimore not looking great.... Added Henry but looks like losing Queen, Clowney, Edwards, Duvernay, Zeitler, Ya-Sin, and Dobbins. Might lose OBJ too. Not a lot of awesome, but a lot of depth they will need to waste a ton of draft capital on. I think we're having a better free agency than them.
The Texans seem to follow the model of drafting well to secure long term starters and seeing free agency as the crapshoot that it is. You use it to fill depth. A lot of high price deals can burn you in the long run. On top of that, you're never sure someone will sign with you unless you spend. I am okay with this model, as long as you can draft well. You need to hit on some of these depth guys every year if you're only signing them to one or two year deals, that's what concerns me. I'd rather sign more three year deals that were team friendly, as far as cutting a player goes. Yes, it's not the splashy moves we all want, and it's fun to make fun of the one year deals, but if executed correctly, it can take a franchise from being good sometimes, towards being good to great all the time - especially with a good coach and quarterback combo. Haven't we seen that before?
Just personal preference. I don’t feel like Mixon is consistent game to game. At the price range, he would have been my choice. That being said, their production may wind up being nearly identical.
