Plot details for Trachtenberg's upcoming movie are being kept under wraps, but Deadlinereports the director and the studio executives are keen on picking a lead star soon. Meanwhile, there's a chance that star Amber Midthunder will reprise her role of Comanche Nation warrior Naru in a previously announced follow-up to Prey. If confirmed, Midthunder's return would make Prey 2 the first film in the saga to feature the same protagonist. Disney Related: Prey's ending links it to a long-running Predator mystery Speaking about the sequel in January 2023, Midthunder said she "would be happy" to be a part of a new Prey adventure, though she had no insights as to when that would happen — and it seems likely that production on Badlandswill now further delay Prey 2. "I don't have a date for you," the actress told Variety last year. "This is not an announcement, but I'm not saying it's not. We talk all the time about all kinds of things and that was probably one," she added. "I'm ready. I loved that experience. I love that movie. I would be happy to, you know, see where else we can take it."
