Loved me some Corey Maggette....but I think Cam is better than him....can't think of a true comp of a SG that had this much power.....

Trying to think of a player with the same combination of power, aggressiveness, shooting ability, and tunnel vision. His single mindedness of scoring is going to be both his greatest strength and greatest weakness.

My initial comp was Eric Gordon. The similarities are in how they both use their body to push/bully their way to the paint, but also can heat up from the outside.

But Whitmore is bigger, more athletic, more aggressive, and seems to have a better shot.

Athletic Carmelo Anthony 2 guard that hopefully plays defense.

I did t say he doesn’t have ball handling ability. I said he doesn’t have DWade ball handling ability. There’s a difference and levels. DWade could run the offense.

Why is it so damn fun picking comps. I just spent 7 minutes trying to think of one.

I don’t think there’s a good comp for his combination of strength, shooting, straight line drive, hops, negative defender, no lateral moves and no passing. It’s a very very unusual combination.

Maybe he is The Comp. Be The Comp. That’s it.

The closest I can come to Cam - might be Clyde Drexler, just a power shooting guard.

A better Eric Gordon is a good comparison as is the Maggette one.

It's obviously Jordan with a more killer instinct .. Have you been paying attention to the fan base?

Honestly kind of like that comp. EGo would be on a hall of fame track with Whitmore's physical attributes.

Iceman was a 3 level scorer who never had many assists. And, he was good defender too.

A lot of these guys people are mentioning--DWade, Clyde, etc--were much better passers than Cam will ever be.

Maggette with better shooting works for me. Which, to be clear, would be a great player--Maggette's inefficiency with his jump shot held him back a lot.

I wonder what Cam would be capable of averaging ppg if given the green light on a tanking team at 19 years old.

I don't think he has a true comparison. Most guys will be missing either his size, strength, athletic ability, defense, shooting, or BBIQ. Most of the guys who probably compare physically used their talents differently, or took more time to develop. As far as dominating physically at such a young age, maybe Moses Malone, Lebron, Melo, and Stoudemire have, but they weren't shooters like Cam. Even Jordan and Ant had to gain strength when they got in the league. All around play style without regard to age, I think seasoned Kahwi Leonard in Larry Johnson's body
