I'm glad Ime/Rockets have been patience with Cam and gradually bringing him along from summer league to g league to increasing minutes in the NBA. I think the G League matters for NBA rookies. He came into the league with both a NBA ready body and athleticism and it definitely shows.
I only saw Amen take one shot. Second was Cam...Unless I saw the wrong thing or video didn't fully play for me.
Exactly. He needs to take the next step of coming off the bench for about 20 mins. Injecting him into the starting lineup is a mistake.
I hope the injuries rumors from the draft are pure BS. Hope he stays explosive and nasty for 15 years. Amen & Cam with our frontline could be so much fun.
It was an over reaction to his hand injury that caused him to miss a chunk of the year at villanova. He also wasn't super consistent when he returned but when he played you could see this same explosive aggressive Cam we're seeing now. At the time an 18 year old just bullying guys and getting any shots he wants. nova also wasn't very good collectively last year for various reasons as a team either so that didn't help.
In one of the recent podcasts discussing Cam (I think it was Sam Vecenie?) they were talking about other teams potentially seeing something in his X-rays, and guessing that he was going to have an 8-10 year career because of his knees, or something along those lines. I think Sam had him #2 on his board even with those red flags.
Cam has an X factor that can't be taught. Every opportunity he has been given he has performed far better than expectations.
I've read somewhere that he had surgery on his knee in high school and has a few screws inserted in there. It would defintely be a concern given how often he gets up in the air. Hopefully the Rockets can figure out how to keep him healthy in the long term.
I don't know about the screws in his leg thing, but he broke his tibia and had surgery on it in the 9th grade.
Technically he "broke" it twice if you count the hairline fracture he got in the same leg after the surgery and returned.
Well he can count this season as a rest season, we were good enough to bring him along very slowly. Hasn't played many minutes and whatever is in his medical I'm sure the staff have been working on it. Honestly I think he lacks mobility and flexibility in the hips because of that long injury layoff. The rehab may not have been done well. Whatever Jabari did to improve his flexibility this summer would be great for Cam.
Sure. Here you go. If you can't open the link, the relevant part is pasted below. (Not for the squeamish.) https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...more-houston-rockets-path-to-nba-18171601.php
