I don't agree with that at all. If you're only talking offensively, then yes he struggled quite a 'bit during the season, but his defense was consistent. Boxscores don't tell the entire story.
Excellent breakdown. The drop coverage pressure Amen creates is what separates him from Ben and Russell. This is why the sag defense won't work with him, he has a blow-by speed with a nice soft touch around the basket or he'll find a true open 3 point shooter.
What surprised me is Def the court awareness and overall Bball Iq. I thought it would take some time to adjust since he had been playing vs noobs for 2 yrs. If you look at Wemby that's how I expected Amen to play, flashes of potential but gonna be super raw. Evidently FO thought the same since FVV was our no 1 target. Good thing Amen is 6'7 and can play multiple spots, Green better get his game up both KPJ and Amen gonna be waiting in the wings this season.
Lol let's not compare him to NBA players just yet. Sag defense can shut down anyone who doesn't have a J, Amen included. He won't be able to blow by Celtics or Miami zone defense cmon man.
He did showcase that nifty running floater from longish midrange. That said, the turnaround fade he took was downright fugly.
Well well sirs, both Amen and Ausar aren't NBA players. If you wanted a 3 year away from NBA project, you shouldn't be drafting them top 5. Fooled again by the likes of Kevin O'Conner.
What a surprise that a pretend high school pro league in a warehouse in ATL was in fact not the best proving grounds for NBA talent.
We really drafted a dude who was 20 years old playing against 16 year old kids in a WWE league which focuses more on entertainment than actual basketball. Both brothers stink and can’t get playing time.
Amen is in tough spot with this team on the fringe of the playoff race. He would get more time on a crappy team or even a team that isnt in a dogfight every game. Maybe the standings or scores will dictate more playing time later in the season. He needs to grow and isn't getting free seasons like Jabari and Jalen had. Nothing we have seen says it's time to write him off. Ideally he starts to earn leverage minutes. I hope he starts being more aggressive as his minutes increase.
After tonight he has played in less than 160 minutes. I think he will a great player down the road. Him creating easy fastbreak baskets for Green and Whitmore. While Jabari creates space for Sengun. At least that's what I see happening. shrug
his brother who was the better shooter is currently 9-57 from 3 on the year both brothers never developed a shot or handle growing up
Weird how Amen gets called out for not saving the team in 8 minutes of action but Aaron Holiday off another slopass performance doesn't get a mention.
Yes, the 23rd pick from 5 years ago who has been released by 4 prior team is the problem. Certainly not our 4th pick this year who was touted by half of the board with the lower basketball IQ as our franchise point guard.
No? The dude has barely played. We don't know for sure how he will turn out, that's true of any unproven rookie, but my opinion of him is unchanged so far.
