Podz is only starting out of necessity. Tari is better than Jacquez and isn't starting here. Neither would be starting over Jalen. Sorry to burst your bubble. Ime would laugh at you if you asked him that.
In the new facility speech, when talking about the franchise, when mentioning the future and players, Jalen was still the first name off of Tillman's tongue. No doubt coaches (and Stone) are aware of the ceremonial minutes situation, but I doubt FO is reporting to Tillman that anyone is pivoting from Jalen. With the wait and see approach we've seen in past seasons, holding on to Wood, holding onto Gordon, it's more likely they hold on Jalen for as long as they could. The fact that the team is near .500, also takes lot of this pressure off.
At the very least it looks like Cam is maybe the best talent we have on the roster to play the Garrison Matthews type of role. The stats don’t show it yet because of circumstance but it’s obvious that he might have the best natural 3 point stroke on the roster besides maybe FVV, Holiday, and Brooks. It honestly looks to me like Amen might need a G League stint at the moment just to get his confidence up and see his shot in a safer environment so the team can make a decision on how they want to play him in the offense if he needs to be treated like a Ben Simmons or if he maybe needs to be change positions. Shooting at the PG position is vital nowadays. Maybe there is more happening behind the scenes than we know with Cam, but I think it’s past time to start putting him in the rotation to play with FVV and Sengun a bit off the bench or whatever to at least give those two some actual spacing with an actual outside shooting threat. And at the same time I’m a bit concerned with Amen even though I do like him but not at a top 10 pick in the draft. It’s early but the guy looks to project more to the Shaun Livingston, Garrett Temple mold than he does Penny Hardaway/T-Mac mold. With injuries to Brooks and Jabari I guess we are about to find out a lot about these two and I sure hope to be wrong about Amen. Can I feel pretty good that he’s going to help space the floor at the very least and I don’t think he’ll hurt the defense much unless he cops an attitude.
Cam at least got playing time. I'm okay with a few games of 10-15 minutes a game to see how he does as our shooting guard.
I think Cam is the future at the 2 guard for this team. The sooner you start him the better. His off the ball skills remind me of Kenyon Martin Jr.
We need his shooting. He’s a willing volume shooter whose mechanics look silky. I’ve seen him cut hard off ball in ways I haven’t seen Green really do and the guy will push in transition. I was also impressed with him as a low man. He was crashing hard, contesting at the rim, rotating early and then zoning up on the weak side. The kid needs to be in the rotation.
I do not think there is a deeper meaning behind this. They just do not want to burn Cam like they did with Jalen Green out there. Get his mind straight about being an NBA professional......earning minutes the hard way and not gifting anything. As for the moping allegations, my personal take it is still better than throwing objects....
