Quiet game but he's moving well. Didn't think he made a bunch of mistakes, felt like he was on the floor in the 2nd when the team pushed ahead. FVV gonna keep playing 40mpg? Uncle Jeff at 19mpg? .....Amen 10mpg? They even mentioned on the broadcast... Rockets basically play every other night until March now. 10 man rotation but I don't think we can abide by those mpg on veteran legs.
I actually thought he did pretty well. Yeah, he gets lost on some plays, but I'm expecting that. When he came in during the first half, anytime he got the ball, he was turning on the jets and it usually ended with someone getting a pretty good shot. From what I recall, he was playing with some of the backups in the first half and when they came out, he came out (with the exception of Uncle Jeff who was shooting FT's at the time). I'm not sure without him, Eason, and Uncle Jeff we would've gone on that run in the 2nd quarter. One of the best things I saw from Amen was him breaking the double-team/pressure in the 4th quarter by, once again, just turning on the jets. The only thing that stopped that from becoming a one-man break/dunk was Wembanyama waiting at the rim which forced Amen to pass the ball back out. If you watch where he gets the ball and recognizes the double-team and begins to accelerate from San Antonio's free-throw line, there was 20 seconds left on the shot clock. He reaches the Rockets' own free throw line in 3 seconds not running in a perfectly straight line. Seriously, wth? Osman was chasing him and was just inhaling contrails. lol. About the only thing I wondered on that play was whether or not he could've pulled up for a free-throw line jumper or not.
Amen looked a lot better than his preseason game I guess the GL warmup really helped him. I thought he moved really well and was in prime position a lot of times his teammates just didn't pass him the ball. He should be better in coming games.
Amén is a talented dude. The Rockets are letting him know they can win a lot of games as they are. Therefore, Amen is getting brought in slowly, letting him get comfortable with his talent as he incorporates the NBA game and speed. The team had a solid rotation. And as Amen figures it out, he can get the Rockets from a borderline playoff team, into the upper echelon of playoff teams. I think nothing will be rushed with Amen, and he will be brought up slowly, with the focus on his continued development of fundamentals so he can thrive in the NBA.
Doesn't mean jack ****. He is a bad shooter in the NBA now. Shooting 32% from wide open 3's. His atheleticism is just so lacking that any easy shot becomes a hard shot for Cade.
I think he's responding to the original take that they draft bad shooters. Cade wasn't considered a bad shooter in college or during the draft while the others were anywhere from questionable to horrible.
I don't think we're to cast any stones. 3p% on our team as of Dec 14 ----------------------- Green: 32.3% Sengun 30.8% Landale 20.0% (low volume) Whitmore 20.0% (low volume) Amen 16.7% (low volume)
Our most productive 3pt shooters are FVV and Dillon. Dillon: 39.4% at 4.5 attempts per game Fred: 37.3% (near league avg) at 8.1 attempts Holiday is also good at 44.6% (2.9 attempts) -- If Detroit panics and we go get someone; I'd go after Ivey. They won't give up Cade. Last year Ivey played a decent sample when Cade was out. 31 minutes per game for 74 games. Since we're talking about threes; last season Ivey took 4.7 threes per game and shot it at 34.3%. Definitely something Sullivan can work with.
I heard on a pod that Ivey shoots 70% at the rim (or maybe that he has recently). Something like that. But I'll always be happy to take a guy who attacks the rim and converts often.
So what do backcourt rotation minutes look like with Amen back? My guess is: FVV - 36 Jalen - 23 Holiday - 15 Amen - 22
I'd really like to see FVV's minutes reduced some .... he's been at ~38ish for the season and that's just too much over an 82 game schedule.
Brooks 3PT shooting has regressed quite a bit since a super hot start. First 5 games he was shooting 60%. Last 16 he’s at 33.8% from 3.
Is he actually going to play tonight or are we content with letting Jalen Green shoot 18% from the field some more
