He does. He isn’t long winded, he is concise and he really understands how to create mismatches. He also treats his players like men and not children and they respond to that.
I think it’s quite telling that he’s benched Jalen, Jabari, Alpi and whomever to help get the team a win—and none of the young guys have bad body language or seem to be sulking on the bench. Obviously maybe their personality has to do with it too, but I think Ime has been getting through to them. How different things are from last year. Silas was NOT the right guy
He was the perfect guy….to tank with. I take that back. Tanking while still developing and actually coaching would have been ideal - but it’s tough to have it all.
Problem is you bring in a good coach and it ruins the tank, look at the jazz. Set up perfectly for a shot at wemby and blew it
If you haven’t watched yet, let’s play a game: How many time does Coach say “obviously” Over/under today is 9.5 I’m taking the over. here’s the full interview: Spoiler: —my count inside I counted 11 times. Started well, and really came on strong at the end.
Good to see that he said he didn't like #28's defense.Maybe benching him soon so that Jabari can play 5.
If Im hearing Ime correctly, he said Alpi clogged the lane but he could have helped better, which is why Jabari yelled at him against the Lakers. Alpi should have helped! Hopefully he gets better now
Sure am glad that we don't have smiley face as coach anymore!! Everything that Udoka has done so far as Rockets Head Coach has been 100% alpha dog, including the amount of times that he uses the word "obviously" in his verbiage! @heypartner VERY strong candidate for COTY if the team continues in its win trajectory.... (P.S) Ime's nickname should be "Udoka-Pop"..... I.D.I.O.T. ? @Os Trigonum Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
We're going to wreck small teams or smallball lineups. Giddey was unplayable yesterday I kind of thought they'd pull him eventually. That's what teams did to us last year playing off Sengun/Tate lineups and forcing Porter/Green to dive into a crowded paint for shots. Think of how much better SGA is and he still couldn't lift the Thunder up. "Winning" spacing like that is a death sentence to an offense. You just gotta have the weak shooter start burying threes.
I think him going at Lebron was a chess move. He showed the team backing down is not a option by calling Lebron a b*tch. As a player I'd LOVE to play for this dude
I liked his comment about Giddey did shoot 2-5, but he was still refusing to shoot at a high clip: “he probably had 10 wide open looks”. that means the defense worked 8 out of 10 times, because him refusing the shoot while unguarded works for us, as well.
I just love his seriousness and making sure this team stays on track for success. He's eradicating the bullshit from the Silas era and I love it.
