This is tough because so many 50/50 plays didn’t go our way. The tank catch that was “incomplete” out of bounds. The bomb downfield that was taken away for no reason. Dumb PI calls in the endzone. We did get lucky with the Stingley int but damn.
The refs really have to be made to answer for this game, but we all know they won't. There are at least 4 plays I can think of right off the top of my head that would have DIRECTLY led to 3 more scoring opportunities for us when you consider down, distance, and where on the field the bad calls were made/not made. I have no issue saying that the Jags got absolutely lucky today, and they would have lost this game if the refs had even been of AVERAGE competence. And yes, that's with all the stupid ass mistakes our own team was making. The OL, the secondary, the coaches, and even Stroud himself had a ton of errors and mental blunders today, and yet they were right there til the very end of this one. **** everything about this game. Ultimately though, we did what we needed to do on the season which is split with the Jags. Now a split with Indy, and a sweep of Tennessee will set us up decently within the division, and the rest of the games need to play out in our favor. I do think the Texans will need to go 11-6 if they want to make the playoffs, which means they can really only afford to lose one more game this season. Today was absolutely heartbreaking, but it doesn't hurt us as badly as it may feel right now.
Not going to lie…this lost hurt so bad for me. I thought we were going to win this one and finally be in the drivers seat, control our own destiny and eventually win out.
It was a 58 yard kick... I'm not mad at the kicker. Just disappointed with the officiating and the one defensive drive right after we got up 14 to 13.
