Who was the better Morris twin though? If I recall, markieff had better numbers his rookie season, but he is now out of the league while Marcus is still playing. So basically you never know until later which twin is going to be better, so before people say Ausar, even if he has a much better rookie season, it could be Amen that eventually is best.
yeah the DET fans love Ausur but they hate his TO's and his Shooting is pretty poor. Ausar is leveraging his elite athleticism. I know Amen cant shoot or even dribble that well, but I want him to use his athleticism like his brother. Ausar is everywere.
To be fair Ausar average 2 turnovers per game, that ain't too bad. Especially not considering the fact that he is averaging 2 blocks (that is sick), 10 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
It’s very hard to compare the twins right now. One is getting featured in The offense, the other is being given spot minute’s. when given consistent minutes, As he was in the summer league, Amen excelled.
Morris twins never did something great. Marcus was the better scorer while Markieff could guard bigs.....if you go by numbers Mook.....but Kieff won a chip for a reason. He was much needed. Kieff is still with the Mavs just not playing.
Issue is that Amen needs to learn to run the point. Ausar will never ever be running the point or directing the team. Being Tari Eason is very different than being Scoot Henderson. Holiday has come on recently and I like having him and FVV be Amen's training wheels while he learns to command the offense. I do wonder if there's a deal in place with Fred where he might sign here for 15m in the twilight of his career to be Amen's backup and continue the mentorship.
Ausar is playing so well DET is not going to limit what he can and can't do. Especially since Cade is playing like doo doo garbage. This whole wing/PG designation on the twins, they probably flipped a coin and Amen won PG. Their skills seem pretty comparable. Amen is not that great a dribbler where we can just call him a PG, IMO
Houston Rockets' Amen Thompson to Remain Sidelined with Ankle Injury Thompson sustained the injury on Nov. 1 in a 128-119 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. He stepped on J.T. Thor's foot, which resulted in a Grade 2 right ankle sprain. He could not put weight on his injured ankle and left the Toyota Center on crutches. He spent the next five days in a walking boot. But on Nov. 7, the former OverTime Elite prospect attended practice without it. "No new update timewise," Udoka said. "He seemed to be walking better after three or four days. Obviously, you have to be happy that he is walking without the boot. He has been doing his rehab. It's about being patient, and we can take it from there." Thompson will likely miss the Rockets' three-game west coast road trip, which will begin Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. They will play their first back-to-back set Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers before taking on the Golden State Warriors on Monday. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/news/houston-rockets-amen-thompson-remain-sidelined-with-ankle-injury
Ausar is barely getting featured in the offense. Cade/Killian/Ivey/Sasser are all taking up all the usage. Ausar gets his value by doing all the dirty work. He works his ass off on defense, rebounds more than any other wing in the league, and finishes plays when set up by the primary ball handler. Most of his assists are second passes within the flow of the offense. Right now he's looking like the ultimate role player but he definitely has the potential to be even more than that.
Asuar has a bottom 5 TS% playing heavy minutes on the worst team in the east that isn't running out both Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole in their starting lineup. Both twins have a long way to go, but I can appreciate the "swing for upside" logic for both twins.
Wonder if he’s going to need to win his spot back. His +- against Orlando was unbelievably bad. Holliday is playing good and we’re winning.
