The funny thing about the contract is haters can't even say FVV will be an albatross later on cuz his contract isn't even guaranteed after next year. And FVV is only 29 and will still be in his prime when the contract ends.

He lucked out in the right situation, imagine him on the Wizards, he would still not do much other than minor improvements.

Yes this is a typical knee-jerk thread that most of these dumbasses start. I like Fred the contract is with the contract is it's not the worst it's not the best. But coach knows what he's doing that's the most important thing here. He didn't want Harden screwing it up with his system. Coach wanted his system to be ran so he got a player that knows how to run what he wants. Now we're seeing some fruits of this. Imagine if Harden would have been brought in here, given a crazy contract that he wanted then screwing everybody over. Fred's going to do just fine.

The reporters/announcers keep using the word "stabilizer", and it's trite, but it's true. Yes, sometimes he takes some questionable shots, but it's usually when our offense is already stalled and he's trying to get us going. I don't see much of the "hero ball" stuff Toronto fans were criticizing him for. He plays as well on defense as I knew he would. He is short, nothing he can do about that, but he is about as disruptive and solid as a 5'11" guy can be.

He is a better shooter than people think. Most of his shots are jumpers, and most of those are from beyond the arc, sometimes way beyond the arc, that's why the FG% looks unimpressive. But he spaces the floor in a way that none of our other players really can.

The biggest thing though is having a guy who can actually bring the ball up and get the offense started and initiate plays. Sengun is a great "hub" but he can't play the lead guard role, you still need somebody to bring the ball up every time up the floor. FVV is doing it to the tune of 7.9/1.7 AST to TO. That's damn nearly elite.

Anyone who ever thought KPJ was even close to being the same player as FVV is a fool.

OP didn't realize that any NCAA-level point guard who understood plays and team positioning was going to look like John Stockton next to last year's "system".

Van Vleet so far has been far better than that.

imo... if you start a thread like this... where your ignorance is apparent and constantly at conflict with reality... you should lose your thread starting abilities...

I mean idiots want to post some polarizing take based on ignorance or just to be contrarian - obviously losers that need attention bc their mommy or daddy didnt give em enough love or whatever... screw them...

If someone wanted to post "Will Fred Van Fleet be the worst...' and express their concerns - fine...
but lets stop the idiots from dominating the landscape already...

we all know there are 5 or 6 stupid posters that have to run to the forum and start a thread every time they have one of their bad takes...

lets eliminate the idiots already - or at least restrict their thread starting abilities...

The site has become a microcosm of society in general - where the stupidest are the loudest and their inane chatter drowns out any sane discussion...

If @Texanasiafan starts a thread saying "Fred Van Vleet will be the best FA acquisition in Rockets history" all will be forgiven
