Same folks bashing the potential cornerstones will argue you down about the potential of the players that's been cut from other teams.. **** be hilarious ..
Yea these knee-jerk threads, post, etc are comical-at best. We finally have structure and play solid with lapses. It's like folks have no clue about team ball. These guys are under a learning curve with a new coach and system being asked to do things they never had to on a pro level. Patience is a virtue
It's horrible to see him get injured again. A grade 2 sprain isn't that bad though. Has he hurt the same ankle that he did in summer league?
Anyone's who ever played and had a grade 2 knows he probably wasn't fully healed from the last one. Even after you don't feel anymore pain it takes a while to mentally get back to playing like yourself and making moves you normally make without thinking about hurting the ankle again. He may need to check those shoes though. Still like him at #4. The Rockets couldn't have had a better draft. Amen won't disappoint. People almost gave up on Steph Curry because of ankle issues.
I think we are going to learn at some point that he really isn't a PG and that his role will ideally be more similar to his brothers in DET right now. Thompson twins are Andre Iguodala's, not Lamelos. The kid needs a PG and shooters around him, in that setting his physical tools will cause chaos on both ends and should outshine his limitations.
Also he stepped on a guy's foot and rolled it nearly 90 degrees, that'll sprain anybody's ankle, it's not anything chronic.
You stole my **** lol... I've been saying since before he got drafted that he's an Andre Igoudala level player at best.
I'm a retired general surgeon who did a lot of trauma surgery, have seen a lot of mangled bodies-- stuff worse than horror movie special effects-- so I'm not a squeamish sort. But I can't watch replays of ankle rolls. Slow motion, multiple angle, gory replays sicken me. I guess it's visceral, some mild post-traumatic stress from all the injuries I've suffered on basketball courts. So I didn't watch, but it sounds like Amen's was a pretty significant sprain. Hope Amen will rehab and recover fully before playing again. I think that youngster has a lot of potential and, as we say, hope he retires a Rocket.
Last point guard who started his career with ankle issues was Steph. If Amen can become that we good.
Pippen is actually an interesting ceiling comp I didn't really think about before. They are pretty similar in size. Pippen started out as a bad 3P shooter and evolved into a good one over the years. Just hope that would mean the Chicago version and not the washed guy we got
