The team looks worst than last years. Kevin Porter made a difference I have no clue what Jalen Green was doing last night. The team is undisputed team turns the ball over to much and the defense is lost. Plus the Ref’s wanted to call everything on Houston. Why every year does Houston have to start off on a Road Trip? And every year the Lakers and the Warriors always start off at home? Amen
Kpj blows as a pg. The franchise plan to create an offense around him and silas favoring him delayed the development of everybody else. That's a fact. Our offense sucked and ended up being the worst team once more with him as the pg. Sengun wasn't even given the starting position beginning of the season bc kpj wanted a lob threat in which he couldn't even utilized. Smith wasn't designed any plays, etc. If u like to keep pining for kpj u can follow his socials as the man is out of the job for physical harming a woman Fvv was a sht signing, if we signed Harden we wouldn't b having kpj apologists still.
Rumor is they wanted to just have Green and KPJ fight for the starting SG spot and the FO believed KPJ was better then Green at least as a SG and this is looking to be True so far.
It's all speculation kpj isn't even in the league anymore, but u can keep pining for him like the rest of the kpj stans. And like always people keep acting like kpj and green are players in the same draft class.
The org believed that too, and according to Rocket's Watch was going to have an open competition for SG between the two. That ship has sailed though - KPJ screwed his own career up - and must deal with the consequences and it made the Rockets worse as a team. DD
For real, it was a collective first time jitters for every Rocket not named Tate...Alpe or Brooks. The 3 point shooting came around but the bench is legit turrible.
Months and months of Ime the magician and great coach incoming!! All it took was opening night and boom you suck the year is done LOL
man I’m glad he said that cause that’s what I was thinking the whole time watching the game . Where is the toughness. Jabari was supposed to show it more this season and I guess because his shot wasn’t fallen he couldn’t get his spirit up to play tougher and Jalen is just weak trying to euro step three guys and sometimes luckily getting bailed out by the refs. Fred was trying to be a point guard but when you passing to a dude that can’t shoot consistently good I’m find with him just looking to score himself since he is the 40 million dollar player
It’s one game!!! Fans and their overreactions will never get old. Jabari drops 30 tomorrow and all you guys will be like Ime bringing us a chip this year and Jabari is the new KD!!
I mean....why? Why are you hesitant to say that? His career splits are 41/34/79. He's at 54% TS% for his career. He measures out as a minus-level defender across the board. Minimal playmaking for others. He isn't a rebounder. I care less about the team stats because the Rockets haven't been good but win shares/BPM/Ortg/Drtg are all negative (though that is somewhat because of him directly). What about his career thus far would make anybody say he's not "good"? Other than a tiny stretch at the end of his rookie season, he hasn't showed anything worthy of a #2 selection. It is very fair to say he is "not good" at the moment. Hope he turns it around but we're in Year 3. At some point he is what he is, and he is most certainly not a "fringe all star", as much as I wish he was.
it was just a horrible first game but I’m giving them 20 games just to see what kind of moves Ime does as far as lineups and subs based off the play of the players
Because he's just inconsistent which is a usual thing for young players. He has great games then he has terrible games. He has to find a middle ground where he has less terrible and more great games. If he never does that he's still a valuable player in the league as a scoring punch, just not what we hoped he would be. He just has to find consistency. Also we need to take a deep breath here. People keep saying "3rd year, 3rd year..." fine, 3rd year. Not 1 game. I'd say lets wait a bit before making final decisions on him. If he looks this bad though for the year then yeah, I'd consider seeing what you can get for him...but I don't think he will. I think he'll play better. Might be he's still knocking off rust or is playing through his toe thing or just isn't comfy in the offense yet.
what a disappointment last night was. what happened to the summer league/pre season Jabari? Dude dressed up for halloween early and was a ghost. I'm not ready to throw the towel in because it's a long season but I was hoping it wasn't going to be another LOOOOONG season.
This is the correct, reasonable approach. This is the year you'd like to see improvement if his ceiling is still a Devin Booker type. If he doesn't show much improvement, then he can still be a nice player but we need to lower our expectations some for him.
On that, Stone should still extend Green, but we may not need to overpay. If a nice (fair) deal can be struck; having Green (or Sengun) on good longer non expensive contracts is worth it for future possibilities.
