It is good for Cam to learn the ropes and having to start from the bench, he learns to fight for minutes.

The Rockets drafted wrong if they want a playmaker.....dude will never be a playmaker, he might get better at basic passing but come on now.

Amen was picked to be that.

What he can do is not blindly shoot or go straight to the hole, learn to perceive the environment and make better decisions instead. Hand offs DHO to other people.

Maybe Udoka wants him to shoot more, let's face it, he will only get 10 minutes.

The Rockets were also the team that wanted KPJ to be the lead guard creator, and I'd say that Cam Whitmore is far better suited for that role with this abilities to finish around the rim, and burst of speed off the dribble that KPJ never had.

Not saying that I think the Rockets or I think he's well suited to be a PG/Lead guard, but if he goes down to the G-League, he probably should be since it would be the best position for him to work on and be coached to not just be a black hole if he's responsible and coached to setup the offense, make the entry pass, move the ball, pass to the rolling big, etc.

What I don't want more than anything is for him to sit the bench, and only come in during garbage him and do what he's doing now. The most important thing for him now is to be put in a role, and be coached in that role. If he lacks the coachability then we have a potential problem on our hands, and then maybe you showcase him in the G-League and dangle in a trade. I don't think that's going to happen though. He's only 19, and I've already seen that he can be coached. He restrained himself a little in the 1st half last night, and to his credit he showed he can play his butt off on D.

That is what I see with this self announced Phase 2 nuisance..... you draft talented players and you throw them away because your average team cannot win enough games.

Let me say this Sengün is only 21, he will be ready when he is 25....deal with it, Tilman!

Cameron needs at least 4-5 years, deal with it, Tilman......

That is absolutely bonkers to have the luck to draft him and then throw him away like that because alas a 19 year old cannot be coached like a 25 year old.....Not coachable my dear butt.

    People use your brains!

He will get better but i predict that he will always be a one way player who relies on his explosiveness and when his explosiveness is gone with age or injuries then he'll be useless. He needs to get much better on defense, bulk up and make his 3s. If he overcomes his obstacles i'll be his 2nd biggest fan after that freak who liked your comment.

Not excusing the Rockets if this is what they do think, but the issue is the short amount of time you have to evaluate a player before making a decision on extending him.

For instance Jalen Green who is only in his 3rd year, can barely buy a beer, but the Rockets need to be either negotiating with his agent on an extension soon, or coming up with plans to trade him if they believe his price to extend would far outweigh his value.

I personally want the Rockets to just stay the course and say Fck it in regards to trying to make the playoffs just because you were dumb enough to make the Westbrook trade years ago that is costing us our pick this Summer. Just forget about the damn draft pick, and stay the course.

But that doesn't seem to be their approach. So we'll just see what happens with Cam, and especially with what happens with Jalen, and Sengun this Summer after this season then the year after it's decision time on Jabari, and Tari.

This is one of the big flaws in rebuilding totally through the draft by tanking. You often are just developing guys for the next team because of the decisions you have to make on which players to gamble on with extensions WELL before they ever reach their potential.

In both cases, I think we drafted the best player available.
Whatever their strengths and weaknesses, its just what came with the package.

I dont think whether they were a playmaker or not had anything to do with it.

This is WHAT I have been saying for YEARS - that we drafted too young....love Jabari, would have taken Murray......

The Rockets have locked themselves into a position of having to make extension decisions on players still developing - they have incomplete information on Jalen and Sengun yet after this year they will need to decide on an extension? And if other teams might offer the MAX, the Rox are locked into doing it and HOPING they continue to develop.

Drafting 1 player young is fine, maybe 2, but drafting all 7 of our prospects being 22 and under is ****ING INSANE....we are so young, and honestly still learning the game.

What it looks like they are HOPING to do is that someone like ZION breaks loose and we can trade some youth and picks for a generational talent, and that plan, is one that RARELY if ever works.

I don't see Cam or Amen being ROY, that trophy more than likely goes to Slimbanana, but, if given the playing time, they could both be 1st Team All-Rookie team, which would be huge for their confidence going forward.

Cam is a steal machine. I have no problem with his single mindedness in transition. Tari has the same, but doesn’t have the sheer force to dunk as Cam does. Cam has a lot to learn on team defense and needs to become a spot up shooter in the half-court (at least for a while). If Bullock can’t find his shot, Cam should get 20 mins a night off the bench. There is absolutely no reason to send him to RGV, unless he pouts and doesn’t put the effort in on defense. I have seen no evidence of that being the case.

I’ve been saying this since the draft. The dude led NCAA in steal%
FVV/Cam/Eason/Brooks in the lineup we’d have an elite disrupters at 1-4

??? That's why the plan is get good now with free agents.

Rox had a great plan it's dumb to take Murray over Jabari no matter what the reason is.

Jabari was maybe good with his height against college level talent, but not so good against NBA level talent. Not sure what Stone was thinking.
