Will anyone be surprise if Bagwell stepping down as an advisor or whatever ****ing position he’s holding within the organization? I’m not. Let Brown run this organization like it should be.
What a huge out in a big spot there. If only Dusty could have put in this guy or I dunno... LITERALLY anyone else other than Montero!
I lied. It's 3 years, 34 Million dollars. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/houston-astros/rafael-montero-15709/
My, oh my. That's the third or fourth deep fly that Bregman has just barely missed. I thought he had that one. Alas, it's still an out.
Where? At CF or C where Dusty refused to play the superior player? At 1B, because of how well that's gone the last few times?
I still believe that JV trade was done by Crane. Not sure Brown has enough ammo to get a big bat after trading away our top 2 prospects. And then there’s false hope from Uncle Mike whole summer too.
My goodness...you could throw a mannequin out and equaled his performance. I'm sorry but who, other than Dusty, can have confidence in him ? Don't doubt for a minute that Dusty would repeat the same action always believing the next time will be the time.
Simply unacceptable effort - 3 or 4 errors already and it’s the 5th inning? The Astros simply don’t look prepared tonight and too often the second half of the season. Javier looks like he is getting his stuff back and really should have given up 1 or 0 runs. His fastball was crisp, his command is still off but the stuff was there. Instead of Javier giving up 1 or no runs, he is screwed by TERRIBLE pitch framing, HORRENDOUS defense and a bad bullpen. Not even mad Baker went to Montero there because he knows he needs him to pitch well if the Astros go deep - but he clearly isn’t the solution this year. The Astros collectively just are not good - the fatigue of the WS and WBC - poor preparation and coaching by the manager and staff - injuries— whatever, this team isn’t it. I know how strongly Jim Crane believes in Dusty Baker the man, but I personally cannot see how he can be back. His lineups are at best mediocre, his pitching staff has fallen apart, his fielders have been bad. There is a lack of confidence and poor execution. Still a lot of talent on this Astros roster - at worst the 3-4th most talent in baseball heading into 2024. Capable of winning a WS in 2024 but they need to get their organizational edge back. Let the GM do what he wants - there isn’t going to be another trash can scenario. At this point I hope they give up a dozen or more runs tonight to make changes more likely.
