Y’all I didn’t want to get ahead of myself, but I’ve been called up and finally getting a chance to live out my lifelong dream to play 2B for the Astros tonite! Wish me luck!
Lineup tonight per people familiar with Baker’s thinking: Pena Bregman Alvarez Abreu Dubon Singleton Kessinger Meyers Maldonado
Not yet. Making the post-season is still completely in the Astros control. One scenario they have to win 4 of the remaining 6 games, the other 5. To win the division they would need help.
I am less interested in the lineup and more in whether they have another gear. Usually, I am confident they can reach down and find a way to win when they have to. Not so sure this year. Surely, they have been trying to do that at least for the last 2 weeks, right? Or as some have suggested, is there a cancer eating away at these guys minds we dont know about?
The cancer eating away/extra gear is the sitting good players on the bench. The Astros, despite all the injuries and pitcher fatigue, should be fighting to stay in the lead and/or resting guys as they coast.
Yes, I think most of us agree that is a problem. I was thinking about something above and beyond that.
Given how important tonight and this series is, if we were going to see a change, today would be it. Instead, we get the same old lineup for a JV start as if it’s a random Monday in July. I hope the team finds a way to kick it into gear, but I’m not hopeful. Dusty cares more about being right vs putting out a lineup with the best change of winning at this point. It’s a shame.
