The Heart of a Champion Rockets were pretty meh that season even after trading for Drexler. The 2023 Astros have been pretty meh this season even after trading for Verlander. Rockets were a 6 seed and if the Astros make the playoffs it'll probably be as a 6 seed. If they won the World Series this year it would definitely be Heart of a Champion part 2.
I agree. But, we’ve been scoring runs lately. To me the starting pitching has been our most glaring weakness. Really disappointing since we traded for Verlander to help shore up the rotation.
Yeah, Houston has been a cursed city for sports. This squad has already been a halo for the city even when the national media tries to take the wins away...asterisk for not playing against Jordan...asterisk for not lying like the Dodgers or Red Sox. When it's over. Everyone will know it's over. Folks gotta enjoy the ****ing ride. Holding onto every detailed blunder aint healthy. No one's gonna praise you for calling the little things.
I honestly can't even be that mad. Sure the downward spiral has been frustrating, especially since they had a golden opportunity these last few weeks. This team though has seen unprecedented success for 6 straight years. The run was bound to end at some point and this season seemed more challenging than others from day 1. And yet they still control their destiny....
Honestly, it's amazing we made it this far when Alvarez missed around 40 games, Altuve missed 71 games, Brantley missed most of the season, and McCullers missed all year. Those were huge play makers last year. If we pull this off and somehow make the playoffs it's actually amazing, considering it all. I'm as disappointed as everyone that we've hit a funk at the worst possible time, but if we lose out, next year could be so much better if we can steer clear of so much bad luck.
There’s been stretches of bad baseball all year… which wasn’t the case for the last 6 years. That being said, still baffles me that exactly 2 weeks ago, they were at their peak… both in terms of winning percentage and rolling out the best possible lineup. Maybe that’s all they had in them.
Are you ****ing kidding me? Go **** right off with all that you spoiled child 2 Trophies and 2 Trophies, and I witnessed all of them. Flags fly forever.
I have to question your Houston fandom, loyalty and longevity if you leave out the most glaring and heartbreaking disappointments to date……..
People keep misusing "quit". Quit means they stopped trying. It is Tracy McGrady against Toronto. The team is still trying. They are just making mistakes, pressing, and getting into their own heads. They aren't doing T-Mac. They are doing 0-35 in Game 7. Or like Oilers vs Montana's KC. Or like 93/96 Rockets versus Seattle.
There 6 games left and 3 against the only other competition for the last WC spot. Every game; every inning; every pitch is key to the season now.
I watched them all too. Yes, we have had exciting and proud moments in Houston sports, especially for the die hard Houston fans who have seen their share of ups and downs. It makes the victories so much sweeter. You left out 5 more Championships though. The Comets won back to back to back Championships, which was a damn near impossible feat to do with those 3 game series finals, and no room for mistakes. The Dynamo won two Championships also. One day I'd love to see the Texans finally bring home a championship too.
They haven't quit. They have just been struggling. I guarantee those guys want to win as much as we want to see them win. You saw the excitement and team spirit when Dubon made that winning hit. Those guys went crazy. Quitting is what Harden did, sulking and wanting traded off our team. Quitting is what Watson did months after signing a contract. Those are quitters!!!! I have more respect for everyone on the Astros team than I do for those two guys. That's for sure.
