The Astros... you'd be giving up too much SP and relying too much on a injury prone McCullers next year. I'm actually okay trading France as I don't think his stuff warrants his current numbers and I think he's do for a regression next year. Just an eye test, not any statistical analysis.
Soto isn't needed. The pitching depth is much more valuable for this team once the other two guys get back
The Padres have been flip flopping this entire trade deadline. They are too far under to really make noise for the playoffs to be serious buyers, but even if they are they still would field offers on their current players to see the interest and what can they get out underneath from if need be. And um, I not the one who said they were trading him.
One subtle benefit here is that Diaz will almost certainly catch verlander, which means more starts for him at catcher, and fewer for Maldy.
Don't be surprised if Garcia is moved to the pen next year. Both Strom and Miller have said they believe he can be an elite reliever capable of going more than an inning. He adds 2-3 MPH out of the pen and focuses better. Usually team want pitchers to fail as starters first, but Garcia may be the exception with so many other starters.
I would do it for roberts who's under team control for 4 more years. He could fit in if tucker leaves and not miss a beat
30 minutes to go. These guys still available.... SP: Eduardo Rodriguez, Jack Flaherty, Jose Quintana, James Paxton, Dylan Cease RP: Scott Barlow, Brent Suter OF: Teoscar Hernandez, Tommy Pham, Dylan Carlson, Adam Duvall, Jurickson Profar Do they stay or go? Anyone that would interest Houston?
