Oh yeah, you mean that abundance of players who we've been linked to in trades? Oh wait. Stop operating in fantasy and look at the actual position we're in. Very few people will want to come here and most of the players we don't want nobody else wants either. Is this ideal? Of course not, but beggars can't be choosers. It's still an upgrade at our biggest position of need, and a legitimate starter to run a structured offense to finally give our youth a chance to start to develop.
Luka led his team to a stellar 38-44 record and he even had Kyrie for 20 of those. KG Timberwolves went no where. Kobe missed the playoffs without Gasol or Shaq. Are we sure any of these guys are any good?!
I am not trying to come in here and be a FVV apologist or FVVOF, I really don’t like him THAT MUCH as a player. You really have to try to understand that if you’re playing an 82 game season (or at least attempting to) and playing 37, on average, of the full 48 minutes within each of those games played… you’re bound to get some sort of break down within your body. Yes he’s still young but he is by no means LeVron Vames when it comes to physique and even he saw what a heavy minutes toll could do to one’s body. Point is, we have to keep in mind how he was used on a declining Raptors team with ok talent but a glute at a few positions. That team struck gold with Khawi for one seasons but then he left… no one is going to win much else without a true star, which FVV is not. The money is the money so we don’t get fined by Daddy Silver this season. He’s as solid as an addition as you can get with this market.
The fact that kyrie got 3 year 126 makes me think we got VanVleet at the going rate, not an over pay.. a mentally unstable locker room cancer past his prime got 1.5 mil a year less…
It’s a strange conundrum. Sengun was our best player last year. Brook Lopez is not necessarily a better player, but he does all of the things Sengun doesn’t, so there is a desire to grab him if you can. Because center is the least desirable position in today’s NBA, you can get him relatively cheap. The problem is, now you have your three best players at two positions. It’s just not a smart allocation of resources. Lopez is a luxury, not a necessity. Our remaining cap space should be used to improve a position we are actually terrible at. We need to grab a forward.
Uh, Martin is possibly traded any day now. Is there something wrong? You talk about fantasy but seem oblivious to the real world...
Listen I’ll take anyone over KPJ as our starter for the next 3 years Lolol .. I haven’t looked at a list yet to determine was number he is but I think he’s a perfect culture guy for the team and will compliment Udoka . I just feeel like we are headed in the right direction and he’s the perfect bridge game in this phase of a rebuild !
