It hasn’t been a question if he’s the goat for quite a long time. He’s dominated the sport like no other the last decade. He just needed time to get the hardware.
Damn. If only someone was calling djoko the goat and 2nd best clay court player ever 5 years ago… Also, @Commodore have you once committed in this thread without a political agenda?
After further review. @Commodore is a bot or is literally the most pathetic poster on this board. He’s only posted in this thread when he has a political motive. Be it an angry black woman or supporting someone who didn’t get vaxxed (which also shows he’s uneducated on the subject because while Djoko isn’t vaxxed, he is nowhere near an anti-vaxxer. He just doesn’t take ANY medicine). I’m starting to feel sorry for you. Unless you’re a bot - likely.
Novak will be a heavy favorite at Wimbledon. If he wins, he’ll have a shot at the calendar slam. But it won’t be easy for him in New York. There are many good hard court players that can trouble him there and he’ll be under a lot of pressure. I can see him making a run at 30 slams before hanging it up, which would be insane.
He could be knocking on the door to 30 in 3 years. He’s not slowing down. But 1 major injury could change that.
No doubt Djokovic will be the favorite heading into both Wimbledon and US Open. Outside of the usual suspects I think we see another dep run from Norrie. He made it to the semis last year and I would be surprised if he fails to make it to the quarters this year. Murray pretty much took the majority of the clay court season off in the hopes of having one more run at Wimbledon. Will be interesting to see which higher seeds he gets drawed against in the early rounds as I can see him taking out 1 or even 2 of the seeded players before he bows out. Still pulling for Zverev and Tsitsipas to get a major so here's hoping they have a strong showing at Wimbledon. Always want to see the young American's perform. Hope we see some combination of Fritz, Tiafoe and Korda find there ways deep into the tournament.
Djoko in a grand slam tie breaker is scary. He’s not just the greatest tennis player ever, he’s entering Gretzky territory.
Alcaraz/Djokovic Final. The way it should be. the top 2 in the tennis world on a level above everyone else in the field hopefully no injuries come into play like the last matchup at the French
Alcaraz has become the new king. To be the best you have to beat the best. So impressive to be such a complete player at only 20
Yeah, its going to be interesting to see how he develops the next few years. His net game is super impressive. He honestly looks bored out there, and Medvedev beat him by playing defensively forcing Alcaraz to really go for shots.
He will. He is going to return Medvedev's service games and will not make the errors Alcaraz did. Number 24 incoming on Sunday.
I like Alcaraz as a tennis fan but Novak is still the king. He’s been in the final of all 4 grand slams and he’s going for another 3 grand slam season.
Medvedev is tough on this surface. He took all the power Alcarez threw at him and returned everything back. I’m rooting for Novak but he needs to be at his best to win this.
