Don't believe the likelyhood of being able to trade up for #2 and #3 to be realistic without trading Jalen or Jabari. Trading down seems like the only realistic option that I don't really care for. May as well try and develope Amen and see where that takes them in a few years. Heck it'd be pretty cool if Rockets could trade up from #20 and draft his twin brother Asaur too.
If somehow Charlotte does take Miller we have a chance, but it's gotta be a 3 team trade I think, OR Portland needs to view one of the Thompson twins as a better pick than Scoot in their circumstances (for example, maybe they have them in the same tier but like the idea of a twin playing point forward/secondary creator). Much as I like Amen... I wish we could land Henderson so much. This kid has the magnetic, aggressive, competitive attitude that some of the GOATs had. And tools/skills to go with it.
If Scoot falls to 3, would a PKG of Porter and Garuba or KJ with the 4 get it done? They could still turn around and trade the 4 for another vet.
Green, Sengun, Tari and Bari. Keep these. Everything and everyone else should be a trade asset for Scoot.
Excellent Takes Amen Thompson fits better with Jalen Green, Amen can Defend and is a Great Passer, His Shooting needs real work.
Not sure what all the cap math is, this gets into cap holds and all kinds of stuff, but at a quick glance it at least looks like a "maybe". Paging @BimaThug I guess...? If the Rockets used their cap space to absorb the contracts of Nurkic and Nassir Little and whatever other little bits and pieces are necessary, so that the Blazers could replace him with a guy like Porzingis or Vucevic, then afterward bring back Jerami Grant for a "big three", is that possible within cap limitations, and does that help us make a deal with them to move up to #3? Nurkic isn't a terrible value on his current contract, so I think we'd have to sweeten the deal, whether that means draft picks or a guy like Tari Eason or whatever the case might be (just depends what they want). Anyway, just something I was thinking about re: Portland being willing to trade their pick to get better.
if charlotte really does end up picking brandon miller, then i can definitely see portland looking to trade the pick - not only are they still looking to build around dame, but they have anfernee simons and shaedon sharpe as lead guards who will eventually replace dame in the lineup anyways. getting scoot in there would just be a massive logjam. or maybe the rockets can trade the 4th pick for shaedon sharpe?
Lol was it? Woof, admittedly I hadn't listened to it myself. I had hoped there might be something of interest in there, but I guess not lol. Sorry about that. Did you see NIMBY Steph won the citizenship award?
The Rox don't want Short Henderson - they don't value him like so many of the sheeple do. Stop pining for a guy who is 2 years away at best. DD
dream bigger. trade jalen green and senjoon jokic for spurs' #1. senjoon is pop's wet dream come true.
Naw don't apologize, they're awful, not you. It's my fault that's an opinion/commentary panel just not my cup of tea, I was hoping for some breaking news, or at least some originality, coherence, charisma, something I hadn't heard about that, my first thought was "...but why" So I looked it up and found this link That sounds pretty nice. Maybe it's a fake front for a huge tax write-off and Ayeshas actually just eating all the food? Maybe he's legitimately helping a lot of kids in his community and deserves the award despite being a ****ing nimby, idk. Awards for charity feels kind of gross though, would be nice if our society could function so that the communities needs are met without needing to suck a celebrities dick for it.
No way he takes 2 years to adjust. He might legitimately be better than KPJ right away. He already had two years with the Ignite. That's as good of preparation for the NBA as it gets. He has a winner's mentality and is built like a tank, so no worries about either of those things. The midrange game is already there and the 3P shot is still a WIP, but it's likely to be around 30-33% as a rookie, which is enough to keep defenders honest. You should really let this one go DD. Okay to start walking it back right now before Scoot starts kicking ass in the NBA. Whether he's a Rocket or not, Henderson will be better than KPJ in fairly short order, and it won't even be close in the long term.
It’s pretty wild to me how the older you get the more idiotic your basketball opinions get. I’ve come around to the idea, as strange as it is, that you can know someone from reading their posts for twenty plus years. I really am amazed how year after year you never seem to learn from your mistakes when it comes to how bad you are at talent evaluation. This post I’m quoting is so monumentally stupid it’s difficult to believe you aren’t trolling. But that’s what the 23 years of lurking taught me…you are incapable of trolling. First…you don’t know a god damn thing about who the rockets value. It’s perfectly clear though that you will make any argument for KPJ no matter how asinine. You’ve had some insane player crusades over the years but this KPJ love is by far the hardest to figure. The rockets are a national joke because of Tilman, Silas, and Porter. We gave the keys to the biggest head case in entire league to the detriment of the blue chips we tanked for. Second…the draft is obviously an inexact science. Joker is the best player in the world and went 41st and Giannis went 15th. But when there is a consensus about players it doesn’t mean everyone is a sheep. Scoot Henderson is not in the Victor, Lebron, AD class because he’s a guard. But I watched the game he played against Victor…there aren’t sure things in the nba but it was easy to see why everyone thinks he is going to be awesome. Third…2 years away being bad? Jesus Christ…our whole team is basically 21 and hasn’t been coached. If they aren’t two years away that just means they all suck since all we’ve done is lose games at a historic rate. I know you probably know this but Hakeem was 30 when we won the first championship and most players peak at 27. So we are like 6 years away even if your boy KPJ turns into Dwayne Wade by some miracle.
I'm seeing that we can realistically acquire #2 or #3. Other than being one spot behind in the draft, we have better overall assets than Charlotte and Portland so we have an advantage in that we can essentially pay them to convince a 3rd team (TOR?) to take #4 instead of #2/3. There's a real opportunity here cause while I'm sure they want Henderson, I don't think they want him as bad as the Rockets do. Blazers and Charlotte sound like they are planning to trade their pick. Teams who want to pick are excited at picking. Teams who want to trade it tend to say they're "comfortable" picking there. They both have terrible GM's which is a huge advantage for us. Siakam would look great on both teams and while they can acquire him themselves, we can sweeten the deal for them by eating an undesirable contract or sending CHA/POR an extra pick to upgrade another player on the roster. For example if we offer #4 and a great BKN pick for #2 and eating Rozier contract ($47m/2yrs guaranteed), that makes a world of difference towards rebuilding for them. They can acquire Siakam added to Lamelo, Bridges and Mark Williams while retaining a max cap slot to sign a guard. Without this trade that guard would be Rozier. Now they can even go out and add Kyrie or something.
