Almost all the greatest calls in Rockets' history were done by Gene & Jim

 

Gene Peterson was the best ever. He could call the game on the radio and it was like you were seeing it live and in person.

 

This is a classic!! Gene Peterson made every game seem like you were passing gallstones! Then out of the blue “How Sweet It Is” ....

Gene would even throw in a couple "traveled, didn't call it" and never miss a beat on the action.

 

He always said you spelled your name wrong.

Indeed he was. That's when Gene would mention it. Notice the "sen" and "son".

 

Whats sad is, is that after he retired, the Rockets org doesnt even recognize him anymore. No comped games, no "hey Gene, welcome back". Its a dawdam shame.

 

Gene was really a cool guy. Talked to me for an hour about basketball when I was 10 years old.... told me Olajuwon would end up being the best player in the league and he was right.

I loved Foley on the call, but he was a dick... Gene told him “Settle down” when I was lucky enough to meet him.

 

Genes daughter started a petition to get her dad nominated into the NBA Hall of fame. Please support a true Rockets legend and sign the petition and tip in for more of a reputable case for him to be even nominated, if you can.
