Spoiler Let’s get crazy! Some hate this QB class and want nothing to do with it, that’s fine. I’m not talking to you. Carolina/Chicago provided the blueprint. Panthers: 1 Bears: 9, 61, 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, DJ Moore Texans: 3 Cardinals: 12, 65, 2024 CLE 1st, 2024(or 2025) HOU 2nd (Maybe have to include another pick since they have no DJ Moore) 2. Bryce/Stroud/Anderson 3. Bryce/Stroud/Anderson
1. Panthers: Bryce Young 2. Texans: Tyree Wilson — If the Texans miss out on Young, they might not be a lock to take Stroud. With needs along the defensive front and two 2023 first-round picks, the choice could be between Wilson and Will Anderson Jr. 3. Cardinals: Will Anderson 4. Ravens: CJ Stroud 7. Texans: Will Levis — With 12 picks in this year's draft and additional capital in 2024, Houston spends some to move up for the strong-armed but erratic QB from Kentucky. 14. Patriots: Anthony Richardson
Every draft has a “I have a hard time seeing…over…” Not saying I agree but hey they hear more than us. All I can say is if I like it or not.
No doubt. There’s just a couple more DE I would take over Wilson personally. Anderson and Van Ness. Both a lot younger and more explosive
I actually think this is more likely than what McShay threw up. I would be surprised a bit of Wilson over Anderson, but a trade up for QB I could see happening. I do think Caserio is assessing a trade back and what kind of war chest he could collect.
I’d rather see a trade out of 1.2 to Seattle. If Richardson or Levis are there at 7 you could take one or the other. If not trade back again. This is a great draft for DL and TE’s. Build the trenches. I like Hooker if he falls to the 2nd round.
2. Houston Texans: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama 12. Houston Texans (via CLE): Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia 33. Houston Texans: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia 65. Houston Texans (via CLE): Rashee Rice, WR, SMU Remaining picks: 104, 161, 188, 201, 203, 230, 259 “This almost feels like too many picks, if that’s such a thing. Houston needs so much, and next year’s QB class is better at the top, so I’m not convinced it’s QB or bust at No. 2.” Spoiler 6. Arizona Cardinals (via DET): Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia 34. 12 is a lot of picks, but as we have seen, NC is not averse to moving around in the draft. They will be valuable trade assets to go after guys a little higher above them.
So these mock draft sims have become my time wasters this time of year. This one went completely away from my normal drafts but I think I love it. Only thing I didn't come away with is a "stud" pass rusher but I did get a couple guys who could be that and at the end of the day, that's all any of these guys are. I also bolstered next years haul when there may be a generational guy worth chasing with the extra picks - or we just continue adding blue chips to spots where there weren't any before. Traded back from 2 to 4. Indy Received: Pick 2 - Bryce Young Pick 65 - Tuli Tuipulotu Texans Received: Pick 4 Pick 35 2024 IND 1st 2024 IND 2nd Traded back again from 4 to 10 Philly Received: Pick 4 - Myles Murphy Texans Received: Pick 10 Pick 30 That was it for the trades, this is how the draft shook out. 10. Anthony Richardson QB Florida - Houston is on on the QB lottery on the guy with maybe the highest ceiling, Case can start for awhile until AR15 is let loose. 12. Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR Ohio St. - technician WR by all accounts someone who should instantly be best WR on roster and immediately bolster the offense. 30. Keion White DE Georgia Tech - Athletic big DE, traits ahead of production but at minimum you hope for a solid starter who could develop as a rusher. 33. Darnell Washington TE Georgia - Like White above he looks the part, an extra tackle in the run game and a mismatch athletically for most LBs in the pass game, underutilized as a pass catcher in college? 35. John Michael Schmitz C Minnesota - Best Center prospect in the draft, technician zone blocker 73. Drew Sanders LB/Edge Arkansas - This is a guy I had trouble passing on at 33 normally so I was shocked to find him there at 73. Whether he sticks at LB or is moved to edge he should be a disruptive force for the defense. 104. Jonathan Mingo WR Ole MIss - another wideout for the room, muscular build (6'2 220) and speed (4.46) combo. Runs an expanded route tree, 2024 IND 1st 2024 IND 2nd So I think I'm done with these sims, I don't think I can better address all the holes in the roster than I've done here - this is my sistine chapel lol.
If they draft Young I really like the Smith/Washington picks. But they've got to find an upgrade at center or this entire off season is for naught. Worst thing that could happen other than injury to Young is for Young to face pressure in his face up the middle with him being a 5'10 QB. He will get MIlls'ed, this is why if Wypler is sitting there at say 55, I'm looking to trade up for him.
Would love if we could do this with our #12, #33, #65 and #73, however, would prefer Stevenson at #73 and Johnson with a 5th and take best TE at #65. This draft will help Eagles keep adding talent to an already Super Bowl level team--nice job Howie! 10. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO): Lukas Van Ness, Edge, Iowa 30. Philadelphia Eagles: Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas 62. Philadelphia Eagles: Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami 94. Philadelphia Eagles: Roschon Johnson, RB, Texas
