they’re not taking their games off cable. They love those contracts. Those contracts already being in place is why they can own the network this time as opposed to the CSN disaster. but they could also offer a standalone option if they wanted to. Just like they could sell the channel to other cable networks/providers they aren’t already on. ATT could also choose now to offer a standalone option just like HBO has done… but they probably don’t have the demand and they’re going bankrupt.
There are 10 and 60 day ILs for position players And 15 and 60 days for pitchers. I think Meyers will be better than Chas in 2023. That said, Chas earned the opening day start in my opinion.
McCormick has worked hard and turned himself into a very good CF. Above average. Meyers is a natural CF. He gers better reads and jumps. He covers more ground. And while not great, his arm was better than Chas' too before the injury ( and hopefully he is fully recovered) With the glove, his floor is where Chas worked hard to get to. But I do concede that Chas is a gamer and he has "The catch" on his resume. That puts him up on Jake for now.
Not sure what to make of that price point. You can get MLB.tv for the entire league except your local team for $150/year. They want an extra $250 for the local team? They are in danger of pricing themselves out of people's homes. They need to figure out a way to get more eyeballs and fans without pricing people out.
Everybody would then complain about the noon start. unless you want them to play on a separate night. I like the fact that all teams are playing today. Still weird that a lot of teams will have a random off day tomorrow without travel.
This is solely marketed to cord cutters in the NYC local market who obviously can’t watch the games via mlb tv. I’d say if you watched any other channel, you’re just as well off paying $30 a month for a cable/streaming service that has the sports channel included.
Yeah that’s steep as hell. You can get billions of dollars in content on Netflix or Hulu or Disney for <$20/mo. Hard to justify more than that for 1 team’s games. Sure, NYY probably should be more expensive than other teams but even for the Yankees that’s too high. Personally, I would happily pay $99/yr for streaming every Astros game, but I would probably be out at anything over $140/yr.
