I don't see that many people dissing Sam. I loved Sam. He was a major player for us during our run. Any fool knows that.

I was sad when he was packaged with Horry for Sir Chokesalot.

    1. Jason Kidd
    2. Sam Cassell
    3. Baron Davis

tinman, you're a funny dude, and Sam Cassell doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves especially this past season...

How is Jason Kidd ahead of Sam?
He couldn't score a point in a game 7 in the East Semi Finals

Sam, hurt, could drop 18pts on the Lakers.

Plus Sam's team had a better record. On what basis is Kidd better? his wife?

No, he didn't rape anyone or shoot any limo drivers but he and his friends did assault two men and two women....

Well tinman, the point is, Sam Cassell is not a Rocket. I could care less whether Cassell is respected or not, go to the Minnesota board and complain about Sam Cassell's lack of respect, why would Rocket fans care, especially since he hasn't been here for nearly a decade?

If you think Sam Cassell is underrated, then by logic you would have to agree that Juwan Howard is underrated, as well.

    Sam- Points and assists
    Juwan- Points and rebounds

F*** team record- Sam was on plenty of teams that had sub-par records (Dallas, NJ, Milwaukee), so that won't wash.

Your point is moot unless you rank Juwan Howard up there with Sam.

That's right, it's an OT thread. but wtf, it's summer time!

To be fair, Sam did have a 20pt 8ast season in 97; 19 & 9 in 99... He was always on winning teams too! He's just too ugly and b****y that no coaches would ever vote him in...
Last year he needed players and coaches beg all together that Sam be voted in! Was that some funny stuffs?

On the other hand, he's really a semi PG.. He doesn't really play make a lot, and would often take the 1st shot available. People still would like to regard PGs in the Stockton or Kidd mode.

And was Stockton ever flashy? maybe beautiful passes.. If sam's good, he's good, Coaches don't dwell on flashiness.

    :)

Kidd was playing on one leg! Sam was hurt as well but he didn't need major knee surgery in the offseason. No, not his wife his big headed kidD, now seriously Kidd plays better defense and led a 26 win team to the Finals, TWICE.

Sam Cassell is not considered the best point guard because his career APG of 6 is not great. You say that Marbury is selfish, but he pretty consistantly averages more assists than Cassell. The primary job of a point guard is setting up his teammates, and Sam is not the best at that. Kidd is better, Nash is better, even Marbury is better. He is certainly a very good player, but he never has been and never will be the bset PG in the NBA.

Marbury is the poster child for why Sam Cassell is a better PG.
Cassell has got along well with his teammates and Marbury has not. Look at Minnesota, Marbury was always jealous of Garnett's attention. Cassell gets along well with his teammates and Garnett is MVP.

Cassell a couple years ago was #2 behind Kidd in assists for the entire NBA.

Difference between Cassell and Marbury is that Sam does everything he can to win, Marbury does everything he can to look good and every once in a while that leads to a win. Come on now, Cassell has been on ONE losing team his entire career, outside of KG, Marbury has been on ONE winning team his entire career.

Didn't Sam get run out of town because he wouldn't give Hakeem the ball? Isn't a good PG supposed to get the ball to their scorers? Doesn't Sam have a fetal shaped dome? Does he ever wear a top hat, monacle, and cane? Has Sam not been in a commercial since his days as a super sub?

Maybe I'm the only Juwan Howard fan here except for fellow member "tinman".

I'm still bothered on why this guy doesn't get the same respect from fans as other power forwards?

He has been consistently good through his career, didnt rape anyone or shoot any limo drivers, and no one thinks is an ELITE POWER FORWARD.

Howard, a reserve on the 1996 Eastern All-Star Squad, is averaging 17 points and 7.0 rebs in his first season with Orlando. Thats crazy stats (especially if you consider that he also shot 80% from the charity stripe- Calvin Murphy look out!!!).

Is this becuase he's not a flashy dunker? he doesnt have a hot wife and a kid who's head is bigger than South Park?

Is it because he's not as good looking as Sam Cassell?

Hey Tinman, maybe you're right. Juwan and Sam are both good players who don't get enough props for all they do. Thanks for starting this thread. I think this will help win some more Juwan fans!

How did the NETs make the finals if they only won 26 games?
Man the East must have sucked like the ASTROS.
