A few well chosen vets like who? This free agent class is trash, and if u don’t improve this team, no one is coming the following summer either unless they’re on a huge overpay.

Stone is gonna be very aggressive this free agency, so if not Harden, then who? Saying to just wait until years from now isn’t a plan.

For the cost of Harden's salary, assuming it's in the 40-50 range, you could afford exactly one Caris LeVert and maybe a Dwight Powell. MAYBE. Or a Christian Wood and a Dillon Brooks. Hey you could probably throw in a Thomas Bryant or an Austin Rivers too.

Maybe even a Juancho Hernangomez to accompany HEAD HONCHO

The team with the most cap room in the NBA can afford to spend money, people just don't get that it's not 2012 anymore.

Personally I see Harden having 3-4 more solid years. His game is crafty high IQ not athleticism. I also think our wings would shoot a whole lot better with him guiding the offense. It would allow us to develop/acquire a replacement over 3-4 years while letting our investments grow and develop in a proper offense.

 

We know that we probably won't get a franchise player over the term of Harden' s next deal in the draft since the Rockets don't control their own draft rights until 2027.

The Rockets have the cleanest cap picture in the league along with the Spurs. And the cap is going up anyway. If - against all odds - someone from the current squad turns into the Monstarrs from Space Jam - they can keep that guy! And Harden!
