Is SGA the difference in the 0kc vs Houston rebuild?

At this point, Giddey should be seen as a better prospect than green.

Giddey is developing well despite playing next to a ball dominant all-star player in SGA, and has adapted his game admirably. I can't help but feel it would be a chuck (and brick) fest if green and giddey were to swap places. One or two more seasons with Chip Engelland will make the gap between green and giddey all the more obvious.

Giddey was also able to put up empty calorie high-usage numbers when SGA was out end of last year.

Part of the problem with a tanking team is that your players don't learn to play in different ways. Our guys are clearly just playing to their own agenda and stats. In the same way SGA benefited immensely from playing with (at the time) better players in CP3 and and Schroder in a playoff setting, Giddey's future trajectory is much brighter playing in a competitive environment next to a star teammate.

Right now my biggest concern is that even if we are lucky and land wemby - will the FO be competent enough to put together a solid roster around Green, Sengun and Bari, and proactively build a winning mindset and culture? Will they be able to hire staff and coaches that help our young players work on their games to help benefit the team as a whole?

Current indications are worrying to say the least.

CP3 years don't really count but
I give him credit for building the culture
He set the Rooks on the right path

Where was all that when SGA averaged 10 pts a game his rookie year (as opposed to Greens 17 pts)
or his second year when he averaged a robust 19 pts a game (as opposed to Green's 21.8)

Comparing someone 5 yrs in to someone in their 2nd year is ridiculous disingenuous

Heck Giddey is --- At 6'8
    Year 1: 12.5 pts 6.4 asstt 7.8 rebounds
    Year 2: 16.3 pts 5.9 asst 7.8 rebs

    Green - at 6'4
    Year 1: 17.3 pts 2.6 asstt 3.4 rebounds
    Year 2: 21.8 pts 3.6 asst 4.8 rebs

Would you prefer Giddey to Sengun? They play similar positions

    Year 2 SGA + Year 2 Giddy > Year 2 Green + Year 2 Sengun??????????
    I don't think so . . . .

Perhaps the different is coaching and experience

Giddey should be compared to Sengun
Both in that 6'8 ish realm and position

Is he better prospect than Sengun?

Giddey is different, he is used in their Blitz system.

He is not a short roller but a ball handler who brings the ball up.

I think Giddey is more part of the system and Alpe is more the system.

Sam Presti has been doing his thing for 16 years, this is not his first rebuild.

There is not much difference except that they started their core earlier (i.e. tanked longer). We just started drafting players

Jabari, Green and Sengun are 4+ years younger than Shai. Just give it time.

    Tanked longer?

They've had 3 seasons just like us, and none were as bad.

Are u jokin? Green didnt played PG he played whole time as SG only because he bring sonetime the ball up? Same did sengub, tyty or tate PG means he pass, read defense and make decision, green only takes iso shots. He bribg the ball shot or pass sengun run right or left from sengun get the ball back and shot thats not being PG so stop lying

SGA barely making the all star at age 24. Late on his development.

    Imagine Jabari in 5 years.

The only remaining players on our roster from 3 years ago are Kevin Porter Kr, Jasean Tate and KJ Martin. Two summers ago we started drafting our own players and the oldest of those players are 1.5 seasons into their career. Jalen, Jabari, Alperen, Tari and Garuba are under 21 years old. We give more minutes to younger players than OKC.

This is SGA's 4th season (age: 24) with the Thunder and he is by far the most important part of their core. They should unquestionably be ahead of us in the rebuilding process.

I dont think I've ever placed as much importance on one off-season as I have this upcoming one. Stone has so much work to do and frankly I think it's an impossible task. He's been almost as bad as Silas but doesn't get near the heat.

There are no magical free agents out there that are going to fix this and if there were....they aren't coming here. I'm not even excited about the draft at this point.

Can’t wait for Silas to get a fat extension at a very reasonable rate and spend all of next year hoping this team wins its coin flip to keep its pick.

And that’s not even getting into the pick swaps in 2025 and 2027
