Yeah obviously. It's the matchup of an all star vs 20 yo unfinished product. AlP, like all other young prospects, has flaws in his game.
I really like KPJ, that dude has earned major respect. But somehow, I just don't think he compliments a trio of Green / Smith / Sengun. I think two folks are ruining the cohesiveness of this team; that would be KPJ and Silas. KPJ needed to get his stuff together before he got to Houston, and now he's figured it out, and I think he's becoming the player he's been meant to be. Guy is a solid starter for the next 10-12 years. I can see him becoming a star in the likes of Lowrey. But this current Rockets team is not the right fit for him, because he is not letting Green / Smith / Sengun grow into the type of players they need to become. Alpi and Green have major chemistry, and that should become the focus. With Jabari honing his 3 point marksmanship and focus on becoming a perennial defensive player of the year candidate.
I was there. I watched the game on a stream with a lady narrating the whole thing in Chinese over the Kings broadcast. I don't know if it was play by play, as never mentioned players' names.
Chinese people change the names also. David is something like Dawei, Sam is Sa mu. Even if they mention the names ,they might mention little bit differently. An example: The historic Central Asian Empire : Hun Traditional Chinese : Hunnu Contemprary : Xiongnu Attila the Hun: Attila the Xiongnu Crazy.
It's not a coincidence that he got his first triple double in a game ball hog KPJ was forced to leave. Silas tried everything to prevent it, giving him only 28 minutes, but Alpi is too good. And efficient. Didn't do one lick more than necessary to bag the achievement . Magnificent b*stard.
Great game in limited mins. I could argue Sengun should have scored more. Needs to take initiative then let green take soo many inefficient shots. Needs to take 1-2 3pt shots or something. Nitpicking but had to b said wasn't his greatest game in my opinion.
It would be great if there is also a stat line for how many times the perimeter defense is easily shredded by the opposing players so that the Rocets' centers have to leave their men to provide help defense. I believe the true defensive measure of a team is how good they are in making it difficult for opponents to get into the lane in the first place. Sengun still needs to learn much about defensive fundamentals, but so has the whole team, especially the guards who often allow opponents to get career records in overall scoring and shooting threes. In summary, the defensive lapses of the whole team can be corrected with competent coaching and a tweak or so in the starting lineup.
in his rookie year sengun is already better than jokic at drawing fouls... hes better than sabonis 100% already, just needs to be given playing time and role/teammates
no, with 'flaws' and all sengun is just better...if you replace sengun with sabonis kings lose nothing and rockets become even worse... its hard to be brilliant when you have no home crowd, coach is holding you back, benching you, cutting your minutes, doesnt play you to your strengths and teammates wont pass you the ball -a soup throwing headcases and inefficient chuckers that care more about color of their nails than they care about the team...
Well there we go, he got his opportunity with a KPJ injury. Bittersweet for sure since we lost KPJ and lost the game badly, but it was refreshing to see an extended period of Sengun running the show. He also got helped out a ton by some very uncharacteristic hot shooting from his teammates, but impressive nonetheless. All of this in only 28 minutes, too.
Quadruple double if you include the amount times he allowed a layup. Jk.. let’s hope this is the first of many, all about usage!
