Well here is today’s thoughts The Hornets get Gordon, Porter, Martin, Christopher, & Garuba We get Hayward, Bouknight and Kai Jones -we upgraded —> higher talent from the same draft. -Christopher—> Bouknight -Garuba—> Jones (young Turner) -Buyout Hayward if he doesn’t want to be here. -Move on from Gordon (he doesn’t want to be here) -Find Porter a new home with his poison pill contract -Don’t overpay Martin when we have a roster full of similar if not better players on better controlled contracts. Hornets Find 5 fits with Ball. -Martin can earn his next contract being feed from a real point guard -Gordon can gets bought out or goes back to his above average swing D&3 role off the bench. -Christopher & Garuba are both playable within defined roles. -Porter is a wild card - is a all star next to Ball or cut because of his wonderfully written contract. Win/Win.
I like the optimism, but the fact is that we're talking about a guy that has a very active, legitimate thread on whether he's a chucker.
If the Hawks decide to move Trae Young, what do yall think about a Green and KPJ for Young deal? I personally love it. It could be the new version of the Francis and Mobley for TMac deal. I like Green and KPJ, I just think Young is already as good as either of their ceilings, and that he is still young enough to get even better from here.

Hornets Gordon, Porter, Fernando, & Garuba PLUS Milwaukee FRP …For… Hayward, Bouknight & Kai Jones We move on from Gordon & Porter (the tanking is over we are at the bottom) hedges Green with Bouknight. Bouknight is a shooter and a 2 way player. Jones is more of a 2 way player than Garuba —> same role. Hayward is Gordon’s role. Milwaukee pick is a late FRP that would probably just get lost in the mix see TyTy. (Ty Ty is a position of need too). everyone these players fit with Ball. Porter catch & shoot, Gordon (years with Harden), Fernando pick and roll (good hands) & Garuba is a great defensive garbage man. Maybe a little much but the move pushes Green to stardom or 6th man (he has to play defense)
I just thought it was funny. People saying that Gordon wants to compete on a better team etc. so he goes from the last team in the standings to the 2nd last. No fun to be had.
Would you guys take back duncan robinson and jokic in a trade for Gordon? Duncan can be used to make trades later on in the rebuild and replace matthews as we have plenty of cap space and jokic, eason, jabari and kmj 3/4 Tandem is very talented.
He probably does want compete, but we need to do what is best for the Rockets. Trying to make everyone happy is counterproductive towards our goal. Gordon is a grow man that has made millions sitting out for months at a time; him not getting what he wants is okay. Him being able to be cut (very little of his contract is guaranteed) from the team next season makes him even more appealing to other teams => cleans up said teams cap. Then Gordon can join any team of his choice. We need to hold Green accountable for his lack of fundamentals. Let’s see the Kobe work ethic. Bouknight was a more complete player on draft night; in time maybe we could play them together. In a system that works towards our players strengths.
We don't have to spend the cap space just because we have it. We should only fill it with 3 player types: 1) Worth the max. 2) Worth more than their contract. 3) One year deals for mentor-like vets. That's it, everyone else is pointless even if you might get a late first for them later or something, that's not even worth the time it takes to do the paperwork anymore.
Mike Williams from Duke, now playing for Charlotte would be a great player for us as a backup center, I would give up draft pick for him
