While the rest of the league goes to an outside in, switching offense and defense, I find it refreshing and sort of old School that Sengun and company has forced Silas to go Inside out. With Sengun's insertion into the starting lineup, the team has begun to find that identity we have been lacking, there is much more ball movement much more body movement and more efficient scoring. You see people starting to fall into a roll instead of trying to do it on their own (KPJ & Green) - now folks are celebrating passing to open players - this is the kind of thing that I believe we have been missing an identity. And if there is one place in all of the NBA that can appreciate a good inside out offense it is Houston. So, let's hope this keeps up.....INSIDE OUT - FTW please ! DD
Agree, for me it really reminds me of 2002 when that team had to figure out how to go from a ball dominant Francis/Mobley backcourt to learning how to utilize Yao’s strengths. I think most fans expected Yao to be a compliment to the backcourt when instead as we all know Yao became the focus of the offense. I’m guessing history is about to repeat itself. It’s great to have a 20 year old center again with superstar potential.
Well, I can't say this is consistent with anything you posted before, but I appreciate that you changed your mind.
I just want an identity, and Sengun looks to be good for ball movement and it is infectious....same for our bench of Eason and Garuba - which is a very efficient lineup, when the ball is moving we are better. DD
I love Eason's and Garuba's hustle. They can put the clamps on people, and they never give up. And while Sengun is not as good a defender as they are, he tries equally hard on defense.
The last game was Rox's highest assist. The team tackled the biggest problem and won. We were just complaining about tunnel visioned, non-passing guards. Otherwise all recent draft picks+KMJ+KPJ are equal for us as long as they collaborate. Finally you joined us.Welcome.
Yesterday I visited Burke's house and passed your regards. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-e...-malton-ryedale-north-yorkshire-57816611.html
man where is DMO these days...he, just like sengun and jokic, just love to release ball and give it to someone else...its fun creative energy thats being created that way.... of course when's ariza around nothing good comes out of it because he doesnt want the ball back and the only thing hell do with it is chuck a 3 pt brick over the hands of defenders
The team definitely needed some team play to bond over. Especially the hustle guys not getting the ball was not good. It would be good to build on this, and support this with some wins. Otherwise the feeling can just fade away. In that respect, it might be good to limit Jabari's minutes a little bit. If you look at the 5 man line-ups, literally, among the most used lineups the only ones with a positive net rating are the ones without Jabari. And he has not found his role yet. On a side note, Silas can only think of an old-school post-up game but make no mistake, Sengun is not old-school, at all. As many have said, post up is dead in the classical sense and he would not be able to survive in the league if he was just that. He is setting a new paradigm that is yet to be identified. I am half joking, half serious. It is only natural that new forms of inside-out plays will develop after the 3 pt game has evolved. Game is evolving and there is not end to it. The finished product will look nothing like a classical post-up player, if developed the right way. He needs more ball handling, more face up drives, more shooting. More room for creativity.
The thing about Sengun isn't just that he's a good passer, but that he actually gets other players passing. For some reason, others on the court with him are more unselfish when they see the ball moving than when he's off and everyone's going iso or jacking up the first look they get.
In football (or lets say soccer) you have to change the system in accordance with the available players. The teams originally formed as 4-3-3 (except goalkeepers) but clever coaches adapt to: 3-5-2 4-4-2 4-4-2 diamond 4-2-4 4-1-4-1 4-2-3-1 ... You have to check your squad and apply the best system for them. You play different if you have Maradona than having Claude Makelele. Although Maradona was better, he would be a failure in Makelele position. Makelele came and the jargon changed. We try to find a name for Sengun's style ( Bigger Ginobili might be the closest) but what about just calling "Alpi position/style). Adapt and survive. Survival of the fittest. Jabari is a great player and Houston has to find a way for smooth transition.
