I certainly was calling for him to be replaced, and he absolutely shoulda been. However, he’s been fantastic in the playoffs so **** YEAH YULI!!!!!

Altuve had arguably the best season of his career this season. Weird take

I like how the Stros are blamed for cheating against themselves.

is the next accusation that Dusty Baker was betting against the Stros and he was going to split the proceeds with LMJ?

It would have been kind of cool if they had an orange alternate for this exact scenario of supporting the Astros. But no way to predict that.

We have seen this guy dominate on the road in hostile environments at times in big spots before though. Didn't he dominate in LA recently on the road (in a regular season game). I just think he didn't have his best stuff and was tipping pitches. Maybe confidence got shot but I sincerely hope it wasn't because of that douche or any Philly douche for that matter.

Tonight might be the last time we see Verlander pitch in an Astros uniform. Soak it in.

Legacy game for Verlander. A gem tonight is full redemption and could cement him as a WS hero. Another turd and it’ll be another step toward his label as a HOF pitcher who couldn’t perform when it counted most.

    Yep

Plus he's #2 all-time in postseason HRs. And at least two of those HRs were late inning go-ahead

    Recently bias

    He's had subpar postseason

But the playoffs aint over yet

he knows this. Its a ton of pressure for one game. Its not just the pressure of doing well for your team and city in the biggest game of the year, but also for his own legacy.

What would've made it even better is if the Texans went with the slogan "RED OCTOBER!"

If a veteran pro athlete is rattled by some d-bag yelling at him during warmups they are probably in the wrong business.

Sounds like Verlander might get stuck in his own head with all the pressure.
What really pissed me off about his game one performance was that he kept getting beat with hanging breaking balls when his fastball was unhittable. It’s like he lost faith in his best pitch or tried to get way too cute with stealing strike 3’s.

If Verlander needs to go full Javier and throw nothing but fastballs, he should.

It's funny. Since I did a search for "Phillies Red October" all of the ads I'm seeing now here are ads for Phillies gear.

Sorry Clutch. Sometimes the algorithym works against you.
